Hey guys. I'm horrid at introductions, but I'll make an attempt. My name is Time Glitch, and I love to write. I don't have a ton of experience with full-length novel and story writing, but I have written many scripts. My main creative experience comes from writing and producing halo machinima, but I've been known to write a short story here and there. I love to write. I plan on making a career out of it some day. But my problem is I don't write often, and I rarely have time for it. I hope that by joining up here, I'll have some incentive to actually get up and start writing again. I can't wait to check out what's already here and meet some of you! So... Hi! Oh by the way, I'm known for frequent spelling/grammar mistakes, and I come from the land of the internetz. Is that kind of thing frowned upon here, or accepted? Because just occasionally, for the lulz, I enjoy getting my internet speak on =).
Hello Glitch, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Netspeak is strongly discouraged. We won;t get on your case over the occasional LOL or OMG, but this is a writing site. Netspeak is guaranteed to irritate people if used to excess. Posting your own work should not be among the very first things you do here. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). Welcome Time Glitch--I used to be a huge nerd and watch the Halo machinimas. I also want to get into the film industry--I hear that involves scripts, no? Welcome to writing forums. Lots of scripts here, but I don't have the mind to read them. Perhaps you could help out your fellow writers?
