    Hi There!!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by Zaborg19, Jul 4, 2008.

What's up guys!? My forums that I was a part of is, well, gone... I am completly crushed. I was the Mod of the Creative Writing section of the forums. I just love Manga and Writing. I am hoping to get a book published someday, and I am working on one! Almost done with the first chapter! I usually do Fan Fictions and I like to moreso do 2-4 page chapters of a story, so it seems more like an anime or manga. (Then the novel). This place looks great and I think I will enjoy my time here! I do have a couple of questions though:

    1. Like I said before, I am making a story that I am planning on posting up here that are about 2-4 page long chapters of a completely origional story and posting new chapters about every week. I was wondering, where would I put this. (It is not a fan fiction).

    2. Is it OK to post new chapters every week or do I need to post the whole thing up at once?

    Welcome :)

    1) Novel, or one of the subforums for Short-Stories
    2) New chapters are okay to do, though I recommend you do not post the whole thing, because publishers will not take it if it has already been completely posted on websites. They don't want to pay you for something everyone can get to online for free. Critique as well. You'll get much further if you critique others before you post your own work. It gives you bearings and a rep, which people look at and return the favor. :)

Yeah, I just read that LOL! The whole book I am writing is basically a bunch of short stories about different people around the same subject. (Aliens coming to earth from a commet and after about 100 or so years, since they evolved rapidly, are taking over earth as meat eaters. They are un-inteligant creatures which makes it more interesting I think, but they can be from as small as an atom to as big as ten elaphants! Get your attention?). Anyways, thank you for the warm welcome Oasis Writer. You also a Final Fantasy VII fan? (Favorite game of all time! ^^). Well, I'd better go now and check up some stories so I can get crack'in on some'a mah own! ^^

Hello Zaborg, Welcome to the Writing Forums.

In regards to your question, if you are posting installments, piease use your member blog. The Review Room is a workshop inorder to improve writing by focusing on a couple of excerpts. It is not for posting for display.

Posting your own work should not be the very first thing you do here. It is really worthwhile to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog.

If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate.

As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information.

Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
