Hi there, firstly, I would like to introduce myself. My name is Jaka, whose currently writing several short stories (children's story) and fan-fict novel. when I saw this site, I'm surely got what I was looking for. And I guess, the site is more than enough to be able to learn more about how story's flow. since I'm lack about it. And, I know i will have several gramatical error. Because, English is not my primary language (My story are in Indonesian). In a mean time, i'll also practice with my posting before entering the workshop : D Really need guidance from all of you
Welcome! It's good that you read the rules about the workshop. I think you'll like it here. Your English is very good for a non-native speaker.
nah...i'm just considering my english and more love to read than write new post the theme was Hollow earth. But my hollow earth was filled with fairy race and human race. (But in my story fairy can't do magical thing. Just human like races and need an emissary from human race)
Welcome to Writing Forums, Jaka! I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing. This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work. However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirments. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing. Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills. If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself and Cogito) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here. Banzai
Hi Jaka Apologies for my ignorance, but I assume you are from Indonesia based on you writing your story in Indonesian. Is there a difference with Indonesian folklore such as fairies compared to Western views on it? Just interested as you talk about "Hollow Earth" and how the fairies and humans live together but they have no powers...
Hi Jaka, I'm equally a non native speaker, I think the whole rationale of it is improving and fixing our individual failings. Hope to feast my eyes on your stories. Welcome!
there's a few diffrent style between indonesian folklore and western folklore And mostly, mythical creatures here are evil one. So few with a good attitude. Unfortunately, Indonesian doesn't have fairies. (Except, mystical slave that can stole someone money, Lady of southern and northern seas that so powerful or Indonesian version of banshee that also kidnap kids. That's all the nearest myth to fairies) So, i think Tolkien's Elvish was the most fit in my mind. An intelegent being, that know the most thing in this world. Hi Will release some short story, that equal with my novel atmosphere which help a lot to build my world.
Welcome to the Writing Forum, Jaka! And like everyone else has said, your English is pretty good for a non-native speaker. Have fun and stick around.
