Hey, everyone! My name is Cat and I'm excited to join this writing community! I've been wanting constructive criticism on my writing for a long time now, and just thought about joining an online community as of late. Poems are my main thing, though I am trying to write a sci-fi novel right now (going slowly). I hope to make some friends and to become a better writer in general. I'm excited to meet you all!
Here are two resources to help you on your way. Metrical writing: When people talk about their poems having a Rhythm or beat, this is what they are talking about. (This blog series is still ongoing.) https://www.writingforums.org/entry/a-study-of-metrical-writing-part-1-introduction.63871/ This second post is a free essay by Walt McDonald (A famous poet from Texas) aimed at beginners and people wanting to improve their craft. https://www.writingforums.org/resources/walt-mcdonald-advice-i-wish-id-been-told.215/ I wish you the best of luck on your journey. -OJB.
