From time to time, I see posts about historical fiction here, so I know I'm not the only lover of the genre. I had suggested a while back that there should be genre-based subforums where lovers of a particular genre could share suggestions on good books to read in the genre, discuss the challenges of writing in it and possibly form crit groups or beta-buddies. Alas, my suggestion was not taken. However, I am interested in forming such a group, possibly on Facebook (I'm open to other avenues), where members could hook up. Please PM me if interested.
I'd be content with a stickied thread that contains ongoing discussion on the genre. I havent spent too much time with historical fiction but am starting to believe that I should. I'm not interested in other avenues though. Too many places to keep track of already.
@Mike Hill and @GingerCoffee - I'm not sure if your "likes" mean that you are interested in forming a group or just that you approve of my efforts to do so.
I'm interested in historical fiction (my WIP is 11th century England) but I'm not sure what I'd get from a group...
I have since been informed that the forum's Development Team is currently working on a "Groups" function, so we will be able to do this here once the function is up and running.
I might be interested - technically I do near-future and alt-history stuff but I have a feeling my methods and interests are a bit more in line with the historical fiction side of things since it's all based on culture, politic, economics, history - rather than sci-tech stuff that you find in the sci-fi community (I think the term for what I write is "Social Science Fiction" but who's keeping track..). That and I just like history.
