I just followed someone's tweet, to their novel on "Wattpad". Sorry for the dumb question, but I'm not familiar with Wattpad (just getting the hang of Twitter actually). It seems like I can read the whole novel without paying for it though...is that right? So far I've clicked through to chapter 4. But what's in it for the lady that wrote it?
Wattpad isn't just a paid site. There are stories for pay there, but a lot of it is free. A lot of it is also fanfiction. Read at your own risk.
You can get your work read and exposure. For some writers, it leads to publication later if it's hugely successful.
Im getting into Wattpad now, to post all my short nonsense. Why does it treat everything as a "part" though. Like even a 100 word story has to be part 1 of its own story. I don't think I'm doing it right?
It's a serialization site. A lot of writers there will upload as they write it. So, for example, they write a chapter every week and post it until the story is complete. Radishfiction is another similar site.
