If it would be an option to you, you may consider taking a class at a local college for Creative Writing.
I know that isn't possible for a lot of people, but I and my classmates found our Creative Writing class incredibly helpful.
After editing fifty or so short stories the editing on my own work got SO much better.

We were able to critique sections of each others longer works, telling each other face to face what worked and what didn't.
As we got more comfortable with each other, because we were face to face our critiques became more honest.
Everyone's work in that class improved tremendously and we happily critiqued each other's work, because they were critiquing ours.

So anyways, something to think about if you can do it. Otherwise, just ignore it.
That class helped me find "writing buddies" and now we still critique each other's work.
