Caffeine has very little effect on me. It just perks me up a little bit, but doesn't get me wired or anything no matter how much I drink, so I usually just drink caffeinated beverages for taste. I shy away from coffee and tea, as I'm not a huge fan of their taste. I do, however, occasionally grab an energy drink or two if I slept poorly, which is often these days.

ETA: To answer the actual question, usually just one "coffee," though it can spike up to seven or eight in times of sleeplessness.

Nowhere near as much as I used to. Growing up at home I'd probably make a brew (brew: a colloquialism in my part of the world for a cup of coffee or tea) maybe 6-7 times a day. Now I can easily go a whole day without one, without even thinking about it. I'd say at the most it's 2 per day now.

I did not think brew was colloquial.
having said that it is quite good you have cut down. Do you drink any tea?

@katina Usually some sort of energy drink, like a Monster or Rockstar. I don't bother with Red Bull because, in all honesty, it's overpriced swill. They're all overpriced swill, but Red Bull is by far the most overpriced.

Oh. Well in that case I didn't know 'brew' was universal, least not within the context of coffee/tea. I always suspected it was something unique to my part of the world. I've certainly never heard anyone outside my locale use it when referring to coffee/tea.

I do drink tea occasionally, but it's harder to get right than coffee.

As far as cutting down goes - this was certainly not a conscious decision. 'Healthy lifestyle' isn't even in my vocabulary. No, I just kind of stopped drinking the stuff in later life.

I live in London and have been for years and I have heard of brew mentioned many times. I am in East London now and I have heard the word brew often too. :)
I guess tea is very particular I agree and getting right but then there are hardly any tea rooms in London. It is taken over by coffee shop and so I think people are not practised oh how to make proper tea.

In that case I maybe just need to get out more :)

And no tea rooms in London? 78% of Americans have just died of disappointment reading this.

Pssst! Don't let it slip we don't all drive mini coopers and wear bowler hats.

Here's a funny little anecdote: I'd never had coffee throughout my entire life; never liked the taste of it, although the smell is wonderful. Years and years and years of no coffee, and then one day my partner brings me home one of those sugary Starbucks drinks with coffee and chocolate and every other form of deliciousness. I drank it, of course, not wanting to be rude.

Then I went on a month-long addiction spree of coffee and sugar and milk every single day, mixing it with hot chocolate and vanilla and Kahlua and anything else sweet I could get my hands on.

I've only just last week cut myself off.

    Coffee is dangerous, man ._.

"<--" refers to my expression as an answer to a post (in this case, dracon and earp).

I drink tea exclusively, the stronger the better. Black tea, left to thicken over hours, even overnight, til I can stand a fork in it, four 8oz cups a day, all day, straight black, with lots of sugar. Mmm.

Two cups of half-caff dark roast brewed with cinnamon, with almond milk and agave.

Now that sounds interesting. Do you put the cinnamon with the coffee whilst it is brewing?
    Is agave a tequilla?

I put either half a stick of cinnamon or some ground cinnamon on top of the coffee in the filter basket so it’s in there while the coffee brews, yes.

Sometimes instead, I put vanilla over the coffee instead, or sometimes cardamom.

Agave= agave syrup. It’s a sweetener made from the nectar of the agave plant. Tequila is made from it, but it’s not tequila.

Edited for clarity and a typo.

Caffeinated beverages shall be consumed in excess today. Literally zero sleep. On the bright side, my strangest and most creative ideas tend to come on days in which I haven't slept, so it should be a good day to brainstorm and world-build.

ETA: @Shenanigator Tequila would've been better.

I strictly limit myself to two coffees a day. Otherwise I know I would become a full fledged addict. Although I don't count other sources of caffeine, so it may be two coffees, a tea, and a Coke. And I also don't limit how strong the coffee is.

So yeah, not an addict but always right on the edge.

One cup of coffee a day, occasionally two of them, because I am a weenie who can't handle a cup of coffee without a stomachache.

Only creamer and a spoonful (and a half) of sugar.

None. I don't like coffee. I do like the smell of it, though.
My drink preference is water, gatorade, or pop. Mainly water, though, because I used to have to drink water all the time when I was little, so I'm just used to it.

'Tea Rooms' - in a fast food kind of way is a period/historical thing, or a throwback.

If you write a 1940s piece - the 'couple rushed from the bombs into the sedate tranquility blah blah sanctuary of the LYONS TEA HOUSE...' But they went bust in the 1970s - there's another old/big chain of the era but I can never recall the name, we need an oldie...

For central London you're best booking 'afternoon tea' in the most old-fashioned/posh hotel you can find off St James/Piccadilly, I think... ...for the 'experience.'

..of course, tea culture is everywhere, and in resorts in particular - those little old places with a teapot and cozy and cakes, scones, somewhere like Harrogate's - Betty's Tea Rooms is very famous...little tea shops all over the place - but not so much in the metropolis - like I said...

    Right, me today:

Tea, coffee, poo, work, coffee, coffee, tea, water, tea, cider, wine, coffee, computer. Maybe a last tea in a minute before bed?

Tea would be 'Yorkshire Tea' due to location, but I will drink Tetleys. Coffee MUST be instant granules from a jar only. Never real coffee, never from a cafe, it would be grossly politically, just a gross crime on every level. Dropped 'coffee' for a couple of years actually. But just enjoy coffee for its 'speed' at the moment, need to chip more toward tea.
