How things have changed in Washington...

Discussion in 'Debate Room' started by Steerpike, Mar 30, 2015.

There has been a lot of talk about the Indiana RFRA law, as well as the federal RFRA act. The federal RFRA was sponsored by Chuck Schumer and passed by a Democratically-controlled House and Senate, and signed by Bill Clinton.

As if that doesn't seem odd enough in today's environment, I came across a C-SPAN video where Schumer is championing RFRA, and get this: Schumer criticizes Justice Scalia for not being protective enough of religion.

    It's like a bizarro world:

I'm still trying to get over the fact that Ted Cruz thinks he has a shot at being President. :superlaugh:

The game is all about the fundraising, not about winning the election.

Maybe he'd like the VP spot, or a cabinet position, or a judgeship.

If you read the history of the political mess we're in, returning to a McCarthyism of sorts, you'll find it started with Reagan adopting the tactic of courting one issue voters. Karl Rove took that tactic to an all time high then became frustrated when the one issue voters took on a life of their own.

I'm not sure. Some of these guys are just high on the money and attention. People like Palin and Gingrich were blatantly about the fundraising as an income.

There's a trick to it. If you're Palin you get big fees for speeches. I'm guessing Cruz is getting those fees.

If you're Gingrich you form a campaign company and you pay your own company for promotional services with the donations.
