Hello, all. Lovely place you got here. I'm Matt Rust, and I quite fancy myself an actor/musician/writer. Who'd'uv thunk it? Art in general is the lens I tend to see through, and while I don't get paid very much in any of the aforementioned endeavors, I keep pushin' on. I tend to write poetry and little bits/vignettes, mostly with strong social/political commentary. I don't lean too heavy on metaphor and like to keep things concise, but I don't completely abandon imagery or allusions or allegory or other fun literary tools. I sometimes get a bit wordy and could cut a good six or seven words per sentence out, so let me know when omissions are available. And if I'm leaning on adjectives too much and could use a few more verbs, certainly bring that to my attention. Shine on, you crazy diamonds.
Hi Matty Dean, and welcome to the forum. Sounds like you already know what you're doing and where you're going with your writing, at least more so than I did when I first joined a writing community. Here's our New Member Guide to get you started. Have fun! -Kat P.s. The baby in the picture is absolutely adorable.
First song I learned to play was 'Wish You Were Here' (my padre used to sing it to my mums). Why, thanks! Though I can't promise a link between my self-awareness and quality work =) And isn't she? She's one of my nieces and as such owns half of my heart, little Ava Renee. I guess facebook auto-uploaded it, handy little feature!
Thanks! Already running into some rad people, lookin' forward to mixing brain juices with people (that's not supposed to sound crass, I promise!)
