Drake passed both of them and aimed the weapon at the flyer which had now turned to the advancing truck. “No you frakking don’t Bellowed Drake as he fired. Three shots and the flyer’s thrusters ran black before the vessel began a descent for a crash. Drake had hit the flyer. Both Sadie and Hawke ducked for cover as the flyer came crashing down. Drake suddenly realised he was straight in the flyers path. And then the ground shook violently. Parts of the complex began to combust in flames Drake’s last sight was the flyer as it crashed down into him with a roar of an explosion. Hawke and Sadie felt the tremors Sadie smiled. “We did it Captain.” She said. “We did that.” Hawke replied. The pair ran from the dome and headed towards the truck as it approached. Behind them the dome began a series of explosions creating a chain reaction building by building exploded flyers ground came apart with flames and the ground shook and split and in parts caved in. Drekk everywhere fled some caught in the destruction. Sadie slipped on the snow as she had turned to see the destruction. David brought the truck up close he watched as the ground split and the dome began to combust within. He saw Both Hawke and Sadie. He knew then that the others were dead. Sadie stood up her gun in hand and felt something warm across her stomach and then again across the back of her head. She placed her hand across the back of her head and felt parts of her skull and brain. Then she pulled a piece from the back looked and dropped to the ground dead. David stopped the truck opened and Spencer opened the passenger door holding out his hand to pull Hawke up. Hawke took Spencer’s hand and stepped up. They heard the sound of Drekk coming at them. Hawke saw that it was Old One Eye leading them. Hawke looked at David and Spencer then to Mika and too his photo he’d stuck on the dashboard. He took the photo. “It’s time I joined my wife and daughter.” He said. “What no we all go.” Said David. Hawke stepped back into the snow and closed the door leaving the three still looking at him. Hawke took hold of his Desert Eagle and faced the Drekk coming at them. “GO.” Hawke bellowed. Then charged at the Drekk his gun blazing aimed at Old One Eye. David hit the accelerator and sped off leaving the burning dome and Hawke behind. Hawke fired his gun and landed a bullet in Old One Eye’s forehead. The Other Drekk surrounded him guns pointing and blades drawn. Hawke felt a quick pain then saw a white light. He watched as his beautiful wife came towards him smiling. His daughter followed. Hawke held his arms open and embraced the pair. He looked around to see corn fields waving in the gentle wind and heard the soft sound of the wind chimes the sun was high and the sky was blue. Hawke stood with his Daughter and his wife. Then came a sudden sharp pain and all went black. ***** Mika watched from the passenger window never taking her eyes from the sight of Hawke she watched as he killed Old One Eye with his final shot. She watched as the other Drekk surrounded him and felt a sadness as she watched Hawke opened his arms in an embrace letting his Desert Eagle drop to the ground. She felt the grief watching the Drekk cut him to pieces with their blades and gun him down with their pulse rifles. Spencer had also watched as had David looking in the rear view mirror. “Oh my.” Said Mika a single tear rolling from her eye. “He bought us the time we needed.” David said. “He went out the way he knew he would. He’s with his wife and daughter now.” Spencer said feeling a lump in his throat as he spoke. The three of them thought of the journey and the loss they’d experienced. They met as strangers but stood as a family, not by blood but by circumstance and bonding.” Mika sat back resting her head once out of sight. The three of them heard the final loud bang as the Dome had combust and blown apart. Mika pulled her hand away from her stomach she looked at the blood dripping from her hand. Spencer had looked at her. And David kept his eyes ahead. Mika closed her eyes she died peacefully.
