I did it! FINALLY! :) (my brag thread)

Discussion in 'Progress Journals' started by Mallory, Dec 31, 2010.

After being an avid creative writer for the past at-least-15 years of my life, writing dozens of short stories and news articles but never actually finishing any of the tons of novels that I started...

    I finished a novel...

Just now wrote the last paragraph tonight...

Sorry to brag, I'm just happy. :) Although, I'm sure I'll have to do loads of revision - my ending sucks - but still.

Congratulations, no matter how much revision it needs finishing a novel is a huge accomplishment.

    Well done, Mallory!
You should have left the last paragraph 'til tomorrow and had ' finish my novel ' as one of your New Year resolutions.

She could still have "finish the novel" since she didn't really finish it yet, she finished the first draft :]
Revision, second draft, and maybe a final third draft should be fun though :D

Always great to finish a novel; even if you still got a lot more work to do. Nothing like that good accomplishment feeling. :D Congrats

Nice...so many people start and never finish. To stick to it is an accomplishment all on its own. Sure, more work left to do but to get this far, you're ahead of many people.

    Great job!

    It's a great feeling!

I have finished three and it's not about publishing them, it's about having done what you've dreamed about, and then had the confidence to complete. The icing on the cake will be when other people start enjoying it.

    Congratz!

    Mallory,

Great news to learn! It is an accomplishment, as so many talk about and sometimes even start but never actually finish the first draft. Set it aside for a short time and then go back at it, and get it ready to be submitted. It's the only way you can succeed--and you're one (important) step closer.

haha indeed. :) thanks for the congrats, guys. It's a childrens' scifi/horror novel (think "goosebumps"-esque). So it's not too long, but hey, I completed a novel for the 1st time nonetheless :D
