If I comment on something I just quoted

Discussion in 'General Writing' started by The Byzantine Bandit, May 31, 2013.

Do I need to re-cite the material I just quoted? This is in an academic context. Thanks!

If you comment on something that you've just quoted, the words are yours so no citation is necessary. If you quote or paraphrase (with a cite), then comment, then quote or paraphrase from the same source, you would simply footnote it with Ibid.
