Nah, I write better sober. Don't want to look back and go: "What in the hell is this?!"

Every time I'm on the road and see "Student Driver" my mind reads it as "Stupid Driver."

Well if you need a third installment in boredom, then great. I stopped after one.
No point it torturing yourself for a now grand total of 6 hours in your life.
No thanks, I bet the got rid of the trees for giving the best performance. :p

That Twilight fan-fiction is doing quite well for itself. I like it, though, not for the reasons you may think. I like it in the way a person who thinks lowly of his or herself turns on the tv and sees their high-school friend going to prison. "Compared to John/Jane, I'm not that bad!"

    Or something like that.

Why wouldn't it get a third movie? It's not about literature or good or bad. It's about profitable or not profitable. The 50 Shades series is supremely profitable. You can't seriously be surprised by this.

The fact that 50 Shades is supremely popular enough to warrant three movies says it all.

Sex sells, bruh. The kinkier the better. No higher order thought required there. It's the "serious" literature that's the outlier, at least as far as popularity goes.

No. You edited my post for banalities and redundancies. It was plenty clear we were talking about Hollywood and it's plenty clear who stands to make money from films like 50 Shades.

Let's not act like you added anything to my post that wasn't already there.

Also @Link the Writer a little bit of empathy for the lead actor and actress. I read their chemistry onscreen is awful and that the two can't stand each other on the set. Apparently, nobody else would star in this movie.

I'm assuming that most aspiring actors and actresses are much like most of us aspiring writers--they want to be the next Tom Hanks, not a Twilight typecast.

Your post gave the impression that this is what "it"should be about. That's debatable.

    Huh?

Not snarking; I'm really not at all clear what you're saying.

Again, you're wrong. My post was specifically referencing the material I quoted in my post. You imbued it with whatever meaning you wanted to grind your axe on. My post was plenty clear in that I was talking about a Hollywood movie. Don't get it twisted.

Thanks for asking for clarity. I wasn't being snarky either . Often times I see the argument "it's about what sells" as some sort of endorsement for something that is otherwise substandard. It's not about what Spencer intended or not (certainly meant no offense to Spencer). If worded differently, that same fact could be used as a condemnation for profit driven entertainment. "See Link, what happens when profit driven individuals take over an industry is that crap can increase." Same facts, different conclusions.

Sorry for the very late reply, I saw your response when I was indisposed to comment and then forgot about it. It's a play off of an old "shortest horror story".

When my father told it to me, he turned it into a dad joke by adding "It was one of the women," but I like this ending better.

Well, that's like the Roger Bannister of short horror. Once the accomplishment was recognized, lots of people were inspired to accomplish even better - I even made a thread on this very site about "Two Sentence Horror Stories" and got a lot of original responses - but this one is still recognized as the first :)

The actual shortest horror story that I've ever seen in my life is
    I saw my reflection blink

At this point, it's hard to remember it as more than just another old newsreel. Not a loss of memory, but a rapid fading of significance.

The joys of research: What have 'Round Cell R14', 'mother-baby-endoscopic system', 'baby bond', and 'raised blind' have in common?

All of these come up in leo translation while I was trying to get the english word for 'Baby Hochsitz'

It's actually a lot harder to write a resume for this job not really knowing what exactly the job fully entails.

The main idea that came across seems to be overseeing and correcting documents & communication with grammatical errors and indecipherable choices in diction & phrase arising from a language barrier.

But that clearly can't be my only duty, because to me that seems like minimum wage type employment and the added offer of a studio apartment to facilitate my move to LA for the job appears to infer at least a little higher than entry level position.

I know that I should focus on highlighting my native & foreign language skills, my experience comprehending & correcting broken English, and my initiative in starting to learn Mandarin in preparation for the job.

But my big problem is my job experience falls in vastly different fields, as does my education: I've managed & operated my family's ranch and business, I've been a production assistant at an animation studio, and I'm an English Literature major.

The position is at a law firm, and I'm not sure if I'm looking at being something akin to a Legal Word Processor, an Adminstrative Assistant, Legal Receptionist, etc.

And because I don't know exactly what other duties & tasks they'd like me to perform, I'm not sure what experiences & skill sets to highlight to better promote myself.

What conditions or event cause spam to follow a yearly pattern? I can't think of anything that would cause that.
