That cat was clearly trying to do something, and I really wish I was there to see what it was.

A lot of times cats seem pretty unsure of what they were trying for once they've succeeded. I remember watching my cat sitting, but with his front paws up, on top of the toilet tank, staring at the top of the bathroom door.

    Gauging.

    Measuring.

And then he crouched down and leapt, straight up, landing perfectly balanced on top of the door.

Looked around, looked at me, and gave out the most plaintive "heeeellllp meeeee, I'm stuck" meow I've ever heard.

Of course I helped the little idiot down, and he purred for me.

Yeah...kittehs aren't good at thinking ahead. My sister's cat was fond of doing the same thing.

Cats can be very ignorant, can't they? I was stood at my open kitchen window one evening, watching a white cat staring up at a magpie on a fence. The magpie was definitely toying with the cat because it knew it could fly away before the cat made so much as a move. Anyway I grabbed some sliced process chicken from my fridge and began hurling pieces at the cat. It was clearly confused at first, but then spotted me. I continued to throw the pieces of meat, and all the time the cat was looking at me with an air of nonchalance that I could only interpret as "What the fuck's that shit?"

    Then it casually walked away.

Yup. One time a friend and I tried to make friends with a stray cat by bribing her with pieces of ham that we held at arm's length towards her and tossed little pieces of in her general direction. She ignored them and us in favor of hunting a cricket in the underbrush. Eventually the cricket got away and she had to settle for our second-rate offering -- only after I landed a bit directly on her head.

Cats are idiots and I love them.

    Long story.

My bathroom window opens onto a plastic corrugated roof not two feet below. One particularly hot summer's day a few years ago I left the window open when leaving the flat in the morning, and returned a few hours later to find a cat in my kitchen. It took off like a rocket when it saw me, and flew out the bathroom window. Over the next few days it would let itself in the same way, each time staying a little longer until it finally established I was not a threat, and made my place its home.

I don't own pets as a rule, but it was great to be lounging on the sofa watching TV, and suddenly have a cat jump up on my shoulder before settling into a deep sleep somewhere about my person.

It very quickly occurred to me, however, that 'owning' a cat brought complications (pet bills, food bills) both of which were an expense I could have done without. Then there was the question of what to do with it during holidays etc. I knew I had to make alternative arrangements and found a shelter that would take it. I was not prepared for how hard this would be.

Anyway I borrowed a cage from a neighbour (which it walked into as good as gold) and got a friend to drive me to the shelter. I was on the back seat holding the cage (the mesh door towards me) and could feel myself welling up at the thought of giving it away. It was at this point I felt something on the back of my hand. I looked down and swear to God it was doing the Disney eyes at me. It had a single front leg poked through the mesh door and was pawing at the back of my hand, its claws safely retracted.

I can still make myself crack if I think about it too deeply.

Something occurred to me watching this, particularly the part where he's playing keepy-up with the ball and bat. This technology would be the perfect aid for mime artists to hone their skills.

    It's finally happened.

A chunk of my friends are married, pregnant, and own homes.

And I'm an eternally-single apartment renter who dotes on her cat and refuses to grow up.

. . . although to be fair, my friend is trying to trick his wife into naming their daughter after video game characters, so maybe they're not that much more of adults than me.

Onionskin paper. I love it. The way it crinkles so easily and the way it sounds, but you never see it anywhere these days.

You should buy another cat to compensate for this evil past memory, & also for shooting off that guy’s dick in your dream story.

Will this help me source some onionskin paper?

Yes, similar, but I meant for use. You used to be able to buy pads of it. Usually yellow in colour, or blue.

Ah, I thought you just liked the feel (or to use as emergency rolling papers, the theological implications of which are outside my remit)

I told my friend that a on a scale of one to ten, she's a nine and I'm the one she needs.

    It came to this:

I'm laughing so hard, I'm tearing up.

@OurJud try looking for airmail paper. I just searched for onion skin paper on Amazon, and airmail paper was was in the results with it. Comes in blue or white. I used to use airmail paper to write letters on, and they’re similar.
