I would assume so, but you may have to confer with those who have done to be sure.

Yeah I'd heard that - course the USMC traces its lineage back to the RMLI prior to the American revolution. Britain and America were the first to have dedicated marines as part of their navies, rather than embarking soldiers from line regiments (as france and spain did at the time) … this gave a major advantage in sea fights as trained marines could man the tops and fire down onto the decks of enemy ships, much more effectively than a soldier not used to serving at sea. (The marines were also there to guard the officers from the men and prevent mutiny).

Also the British in particular were in the habit of using their sea men as a sort of naval infantry landing them to cut out enemy vessels and attack shore batteries and such, and it greatly helped to have trained troops who could be spread among these parties, but who were still able to handle boats and so forth

Yup. The quatrefoil which still appears on officers' covers was originally a bit of rope sewn onto the tops of Marines' hats so the snipers in the rigging would know who was who in a melee.

I kinda want to rewatch John Wick while breaking down and analysing the Greek mythological elements.

Why does no one else ever want to do this with me?

I have never seen it, nor do I know that it has any ties to Greek Mythos.
Though I heard it is a good flick, never heard of how it ties into Mythology.

It is pure cinematic insert-self fantasy, revenge porn and it is glorious.

The Greek ties has no bearing on how one may enjoy this film.

But it does showcase the craftsmanship and detail in this fairly basic premise.

Literally, to enter back to the underworld he pays a character named Charon a "drachma." However, I've heard people say certain characters correlate to various Greek deities with various evidences and others say they are conflicting deities but with equally persuasive arguments.

And I'm a nerd, so I just want to watch the film through the lense of classical mythology and break it apart myself, have a discussion, and come to my own conclusions.

But none of this is necessary in anyway.

You can simply enjoy the elegant ballet of graphic violence and revel in an opulent fantasy of wealth, material possessions, stature, and absurdly impeccably skill sets.

John Wick is pure cinematic self-insert fantasy revenge porn, and is absolutely gorgeous and glorious.
    And I highly recommend it.

Okie dokie, you have persuaded me to see this movie you gush on about.
Keaneu did his own stunt work, and he probably has that face he always
has in all his movies. :p

I can assure you Keanu Reeves indeed has his face the entirety of the film.

And yes, Keanu trained in ju jitsu, weaponry, and driving for 8 hours a day for (I think?) 4~ months to make the action more real feeling cinematically, particularly in the long takes. (He got particularly famous for a training video for the sequel John Wick 2). Adrianne Palicki also did a lot of her own fight choreography in the first film too, I believe.

Although, in a lot of ways, when the director is a veteran stuntman, I expect the stunts and choreography to have an immaculate attention to its art form.

Edit: John Wick is not the greatest film in existence or anything like that.

It's a very basic premise that is simply beautiful and violent. And that absolutely 100% appeals to me.

Just got done with both movies. They play on the character of death,
and are none to subtle the way they have his facial hair and hair the
way it is. It frames out a skull on his face, which in quite interesting.
Not too shabby of a story line, but the action is not as realistic, considering
he doesn't really slow down for a minute and recover. Other than that it
isn't a bad series, and I say that because they are setting up a third. :)

Arnold Rimmer was right all along. Gazpacho soup is nicer when eaten hot.

So... mentioned to the bf that some houses I spotted within our potential budget were sold. He wasn't surprised, but he admitted he's a bit put off buying right now because of Brexit. That's fair enough, we may not want to be tied down in 7 months when we find out how screwed the UK is.

It was at that point that I had to point out that while I still have access to the free movement within the EU thanks to Irish citizenship, if we were to look beyond that, being married would make the move a ton easier in terms of paperwork than being just boyfriend and girlfriend. He listened long enough to take in the legal requirements.

An article on Yahoo: "The average date in New York City will come out to 297 dollars! Isn't that expensive!?"

Psh. A date with my hand isn't anywhere near that pricey.

It’s an interesting movie. A guy goes on a murder spree because his dog got killed. Interesting twist over the usual ‘mob killed my girlfriend/wife so I must exact vengeance!”

My father talking to the apple employee about his I-phone 8, I think.

"Why the fuck do I need to be a goddamn rocket scientist to make some fucking phone calls? Who designed this shit?"

He's been under a lot of stress lately and its effecting his blood pressure, so I'm going to take the reins on "Operation Get I-phone working." Stubborn bastard doesn't need to have a heart attack over some malfunctioning do-da. :p

I fully understand the statistical logic, but my mind refuses to accept the chances of 1 2 3 4 5 6 being drawn in the lottery are exactly the same as any other combination.
