I was writing about hormone imbalance, and accidentally typed "hormony".

    Hormony

    [hor-money]
    verb

portmanteu of hormone and harmony: perfect hormonal balance

Whoops, didn't know that button could do that.

Yeah, I coin words by accident. I'm that good.

If I see this shit pop up in advertising (say, medical suppliments) somebody will be hearing from my lawyers.

I’m writing out my fantasy — almost done with characters, then to the outline. If I plan carefully, I should have the first draft done by Dec. 2019.

In the middle of all the hesitation and doubt ... there’s a part of me that remembers something else, something that happened in college that I will now tell you all. So sit down, ladies and gentlemen and allow me to tell you a story:

Many years ago, back when I was still at the University of South Alabama, I had a Pre-Cal teacher who said, quote, “In all my 30 years of teaching, only two students passed my class with a starting grade of ‘F’.” Well, due to my stupidity, my first test was around 43 and I needed to pass the class to graduate at all. So I had to fight like a son of a bitch — get a tutor and all to crawl out of the hole I found myself in. Result? I became his THIRD STUDENT in three decades of him teaching to pass with a starting grade of ‘F’.

And I suck at math. I need a calculator to do even the most basic equations. Yet through help and sheer willpower I passed his class. So if I can do that... I can do this, right? I’ve got the basic arcs down, I finally know what’s going to happen in my story, and I have a wonderful mentor to help me out. I can do this. What do I have to lose? :p

How rich would you have to be to surprise your husband or wife with a car for Christmas?

" Gosh, honey, what a surprise. I didn't notice that sixty thousand dollars had disappeared from our checking account."

Every time some political or businesscritter gets caught with a mistress whom he's installed in her own apartment in the city I wonder this.

I don't remember much about elementary school, but I can still smell and taste those big, soft yeasty rolls they served at lunch.

When I was in high school, we had a Freshman Slave Day...

Yeah, that sounds horrible. Does it make it any better to say that it was an official event sanctioned by the administration and faculty?

    Prolly not.

Well, the money raised went to charity, that's something. And the school had the ethnic diversity of Marshmallow Fluff spread on Wonder Bread...

No, it wasn't okay, but it was the 80s.

Buy anyway, we had a Freshman Slave Day, and I spent a few bucks to get someone to dress in a ridiculous fashion As I recall, I made them wear a cape and a dunce cap with my name on it. There were rules about how far we could go. But when my slave arrived in the classroom and I waited for them to gather up my books, then told them which room to take them to and when to meet me next, my teacher said "That looks entirely too natural for you, Iain. It's actually kind of scary."

Stanford Prison Experiment here I come!

That is interesting, neat, and a tad bit nightmare fuel.
