I had a friend once whose dad had a Reliant Robin that sounded like that when trying to start.

Anyone else find peanut butter hard work? It clings to the roof of your mouth like a limpet and you have to do things with your mouth and tongue that no other food requires, just to get it down your throat.

You gotta work up a good amount of saliva to make the job easier. :superidea:

I just had (crunchy) PB and chocolate chips on a pancake, rolled and banged in the microwave for 60 seconds. That really helped with the tackiness.

    So long story abbreviated:

I was never a breakfast person, so growing up I only ever ate two meals a day.

When I worked in Pasadena, all the overtime office work and general cooking time once home was just too much for me most evenings so I ended skipping dinners often.

So my body has adapted to eating one meal a day: a large lunch.

My mother has started another one of her crazy diets wherein this time she is going from 3 meals a day to 1 meal a day and is only eating proteins.

My mom requires a second person to suffer (sorry, diet) with her and has decided because I only eat one meal a day already I should join her.

She wants me to commit to when I eat my single meal to only eat meats. No vegetables. No dairy. No fruits. No grains. Meat.

. . . guys, I’m not even sure I’m being healthy eating once a day as is.

I got chastised yesterday ‘cause she somehow found out the day before I had cooked some tritip strips with a variety of mushrooms in a Japanese premade marinade. She even thinks the marinade betrays the dietary restrictions.

I love vegetables. This removes the possibility of eating my favourite Indian dishes. And a lot of my Japanese meals. And basically all my favourite foods. I can’t even consume lettuce wraps.

I think I’m just gonna pretend I’m on the same diet and continue eating what I have been eating, being extra sneaky and not telling anyone what I’ve consumed ever so it doesn’t leak back to her.

I’m counting on you lot not to rat me out.

Except she does care. She cares a whole lot.

Never question the involvedness of an Asian mother.

My business is not my business, it’s her business and I’m managing it all wrong.

Luckily for me, being so stubborn, my mother gave up trying to care many moons ago. Think it was around 20. Now she just tells me to be careful without a lecture.

My reply usually drives her slightly mad: "I'm always careful till careful gets boring."

Then she sighs. I'm a good son. :p

Mama Bear is typically fine. She’s also a very fun mom, particularly considering she doubled as an army brat & an overarchiever who was an emancipated minor attending uni by 16, et cetera.

The most iffy thing about her is only that she tends to be obsessed with her weight and mine.

To be fair, I am chubby currently.

But even when I was at my absolutely skinniest, easily fitting into Mediums of Japanese clothing (I’m 5’9 or 175.26cm with a medium frame), she still talked about how nice it is to be thin and we should be slender and wasn’t I proud of myself for dropping 41lbs in just two months?

. . . all my friends told me after I gained ten or so pounds back that they were glad because I had started to look anorexic. (Why they wouldn’t tell me while I was dieting and being anal about what I consumed is beyond me~)

I think by the time you are living alone, you should be allowed to be who you are, and choose how you
live your life autonomous from hers. I don't mean that you shouldn't take advice or wisdom, but you
should be allowed to live your life based on your terms, since you are capable of living on your own.
You have at this point in time decided things on your own, and know reasonably well how to take of
yourself without someone else there to make sure you are taking care of yourself. So if you are having
a bit of push back, I think that shows you are trying to show you're capable and independent person.
After all it is your life, up to you on how you go about it. :)

You set your own physical standards, and if you are not happy with how you look/feel physically,
then you can and/or will make the changes that you deem necessary to achieve the outcome you
want for your body. Within reason of course. You have the bodily autonomy to do what you want,
and as long as you don't feel unhealthy on either side of the metric you should be alright.
You are taller than the average American woman, let alone that of the average Japanese woman.
Embrace being above average there, and don't try and conform to things that are not physically
possible. (I am short for the average guy, and I can wear a large in a boys sweat shirt, so don't
feel bad about being who you are tall wise.) :)
My mom is small enough that shopping can be difficult when you are 4ft 10 tall. Dressing like an
adult gets must trickier when you are not even qualified as an adult stature wise. :)

Maybe your friends didn't know any better. Or they are the type of people who don't want to say
anything that may be considered 'hurtful' and be seen as jerks, when they are just expressing a
genuine concern for your well being. IDK, most friends don't like to go out of their way to say anything,
cause they don't want to risk the relationship by sharing honest thoughts an opinions. Though the
closer they are to you, they should speak up if they care for you and your well being. Should they
have legitimate suspicion to do so. Never easy when you feel like the bearer of bad news, so to speak. :p

At the end of the day be grateful for all that life has given you, friends, family, and the random
strangers online who will be supportive of you in whatever you wish to do with yourself. You define you,
not everyone else that you surround yourself with. You are good people no matter what you look like,
    or who you are. :)

Take it easy and be you. :)

(I wish I had a 'Dear Abby' to unload my problems on to, though I might actually drive them insane). :D

I know, I’m very tall. I take almost all my attributes from my father’s side. Even my older sister is only 5’5 or so.

It’s fun, because when my mom goes grocery shopping with me, she asks me to get all the tall shelf items. It’s not as fun because people tend to call me Amazon, old friends and complete strangers (they all think they’re so original too).

It’s weird though, because my cousin Sachi (female) is way taller than me, maybe 5’11 and my sister-in-law is 6’. It’s just they are small framed, lithe or willowy. I just have a thicker, sturdier build which people tend to equate with being an ancient woman warrior good only for opening jars.

I mean, I’ll open that jar. But I can do so much more than that.

Like help load furniture into a vehicle and unload it all at your new place.

Or . . . darn it, I’ve earned my nickname.

I have a friend named Braden.

I have cropped and saved this screenshot and sent to all our mutual guy friends, in case any one of us ever needs it in a conversation. He does not know yet.
