Hello everyone! xD Okay so i don't usually do this whole "hi im new here" thing, i tend to lurk in the shadows till i find my way around, but whatever. I'll just get to the point. I love writing - always had a big imagination, though my writing skills are not as good as id want then to be - and making up stories and characters. I also love drawing and generally creating things, but that is slightly off the subject. But while i enjoy writing my own stories, i only truly give life to one or two main characters, the others are just pawns to me. And yes i know it shouldn't be this way, but that's how i feel. I've been writing a BIG story with some friends of mine in the past 3 years and i love my characters there as if they were my children. I'm still writing with them, but i just felt the need for a change. So here I am. I don't plan on posting my own writing, at least for now. I'm actually here to Role Play - i love how all the different characters come to life in one story-line. I searched the internet for a Role Playing Only Forum, but none of them appealed to me - they were either too small, or too big, or simply too weird. I just realised that this is getting long. Anyway, see you around (the forum that is). P.S. I adore Pineapples. Don't ask why.
Well welcome to the forums, I don't know how popular the RPG section of the forums are. I personally haven't ever looked in the sub-forum, but best of luck to you. =D Though I'm sure that you'll get around eventually and start reviewing and whatnot. Or, if not then I hope you enjoy whatever it is that you do on the forum!
Hello Queen SD, Welcome to the Writing Forums. Our RPG section is not very active right now, and I don't anticipate that changing anytime soon. But maybe as you wander around, you'll get sucked back into the joy of expanding your individual writing skills. Posting your own work should not be among the very first things you do here anyway. It is worth taking the time to see what other people have done to improve their writing, and see if some of it applies to your writing as well. That is part of why we require members to review other members' work before posting their own for review. On the other hand, there are no restrictions, other than content and copyright rules, on showcasing your work in your member blog. Also, be aware that posting a piece of writing on any public site, including this one, will greatly diminish your chances of selling it for publication. Removing the writing later does not alter that fact - once posted, it is irreversibly considered published. So do not post anything more than a small excerpt of any piece you are planning to submit for publication. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Review Room, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well, and be sure to read through the forum rules, too, to avoid any misunderstandings or hurt feelings. Respect for one another is our principal mandate. As for the Review Room, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize constructive critique as a vital writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Review Room forums on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just a bulletin board for displaying your work (and on that note, please only post each item for review in one Review Room forum). Also, please use the same thread for all revisions and additional excerpts from the same piece of writing. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. And while you're looking around, don't forget to check out our Weekly Short Story Contest and Weekly Poetry Contest. They actually run more than one week apiece, but any member may enter, and all members are urged to vote for their favorites. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Thank you ^^ I have been looking around a bit and I think this IS going to be quite helpful for my writing. Plus I love reading other people's stories, so I'm glad I found this forum - even if the RPGs are inactive But does anyone know a place where I can role play? I've been looking for a while, but I can't seem to find anything... Any suggestions?
