Is it possible to omit the RPG subforum from the "Latest forum posts" listing?

Discussion in 'Support & Feedback' started by LordKyleOfEarth, May 3, 2013.

When the RPGs really get going they tend to flood the non-game posts off the recent activity ticker. Is there a way to omit them from registering there or move them to a separate ticker?

As an active member of the RPG section, I think that this makes sense. If we got our own ticker, that would be awesome, but if that's not possible I'd have no problem with not having the RPG posts show up in latest posts.

I am a little annoyed with how pervasive the posts can be, but I also worry that removing them from the ticker would discourage new members from checking it out.

Me, too. I don't do RPG, and RPG posts tend to crowd out everything I'm interested in on this forum. If the RPG section could be split off in some way, I'd be grateful.

I'm trying to be open mined about them but...they are a bit annoying at times.

    Hey, hey.
I only appears on this forum when there is an interesting RPG. Hence I don't know of other stuff.

    1) At least for me, there is no problem if you remove the apparition of RPG Posts on the side column.
    2) As you know, in the bottom row, there is also a "Latest post" index. Meaning that if you remove the RPG posts that flood the side column, Players will still be able to notice when a RPG had been actualized, just consultating this index.

I'd like to have them separated some way as well. I find myself scrolling, and scrolling, and scrolling, and...

There are only 3 RPG entries on my "new posts" screen and only a handful on 4 pages of the "today's posts" screen. Where is the problem you guys are talking about?

I agree with seperating them. I like to check out the new stories people post but the constant update of the
RPG games can bump them off the list and then I have to go searching through the seperate sections. Well, also its
cause people don't post on them as often. But still.

The RPG forum is practically a separate site: There's the writers' side, and the RPGers' side. They intermingle some, but not much. It just seems like a good idea to separate the tickers.

Which is an odd phenomenon really... I'm pretty active in both parts, but it's true that most of the RPers only have anything to do with RPGs. That's why it makes sense to me to separate the tickers...

Plus, I think it would be kinda awesome of there was a ticker just for RP's... just saying :D

I agree that the RPG overwhelming the feed can be a little annoying if you're looking for other posts. I've filtered them out and added a 2nd feed for the RPG.

Edit: some threads are still showing up in the top feed for some reason, I'll continue to look into it.

Edit: I think I figured it out. ;)

Maybe I'm doing something wrong - when I come in, I click on "New Posts" and still get the RPG stuff mixed in. Do I need to click on something else first - or is this still being worked out? (Not impatient, really - just trying to figure it out :))

I think they were talking about the Latest Forum Posts section on the right side of the main page.

I also think the contests should fallow suit, often times my own repostings of participant's work fulls up the 'New Posts' menu.
