Is your novel's title that of a likely Best Seller?

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by TWErvin2, Jun 28, 2007.

Came across this while reading The SFWA Bulletin.

Input the requested information with respect to your novel's title, and a % chance for it becoming a best seller will be kicked out.

Accurate? Ummm. Put as much weight in the results as you deem appropriate.

    It's fun anyway.

    Here it is: Title Scorer

If you're trying to decide between two titles...

    Try this one: Title Fight!

Cute! The title I tried scored at 79.6%. I wonder if their statistical analysis takes into account trends projected to the present, or is a straight average over the past 50 years.

Still, titles don't make bestsellers. I can believe that a bad title can keep a book from becoming a bestseller, though.

A title can get someone to glance through the jacket notes and flip through a few pages, but if it's not a great read, it will flop.

It should be interesting to enter the titles of already existing books- and see whether the rating corresponds to the books actual sucess!

12.5%. Shame though if this generator is accurate as my title doesn't only sound absolutely awesome but it also fits absolutely perfectly to what my story is about.

Well, I had tried out the one-word title of my short story, "Blink",and that's what scored the 97.6%. So does this mean I can just throw whatever I want between the covers and start raking in the cash?

    Woohoo! :D

Just out of curiosity, I compared:
    If I Did It: 20.1%
Confessions of a Double Murderer: 8.6%

I guess OJ's book doesn't have much of a future either way!
