I joined this site in the hope of getting creative help with my newest script. We'll see how that goes. I've never done anything like this before (introducing myself, that is), so don't be surprised when I say something idiotic like, '1843? That's the year I was born.'. Aha. Anyway, lf I could actually make a friend, that would be great, because I'm extremely lonely. I've got to be the most underrated author who has ever lived. I'm Microblue. Have you ever heard of me? I didn't think so. I've been writing since 2004, possibly earlier. I love to write, because I can't draw for... nothing. I'm tempted to curse, but I don't know what this sites policy on that is, so I'll repress the urge for now. On the other hand, chances are this will go ignored, so I could likely say whatever I please. Still, I'd rather not risk lt so early on. Wait, you're actually reading this?
Welcome to the forum, man. Swearing is fine here, as long as it's not pointed or gratuitous. I would have been banned long ago, otherwise. What kind of scripts do you write? I've tried my hand at some shorter stuff, not feature length, though. I always wind up taking the story to prose because I find myself hampered by my lack of technical ability in screenwriting. I don't know how to format this or that or whatever, so I get discouraged and start in a new medium, one I feel more comfortable in.
Whoa. Thanks for replying & the welcome. This is a pretty good community, huh? Wouldn't you believe that I'm used to being ignored? Sweet, because I curse like a sailor, but typically not toward anybody. Pretty much anything. If I get limited, I get depressed & quit. Thus far however, this is only my second script, although I am still working on the first one. The first one is for a horror movie & this one is for a drama/adventure animated movie. I realized I've never made an animated movie before, so I hopped right to lt, only one month ago or so. If you want my advice, which you probably don't, to Hell with the format. Not to offend anyone who swears by the format, but I don't think lt should be the authority on script writing. I never follow a format. I just write what I feel. How well that works for me remains to be seen, but I do have more fun this way & the process happens much quicker. If you don't mind me asking, what scripts have you dabbled with thus far? And what other media do you work in?
It's a great community. I'm not much for social media or online interactions, but I feel pretty much at home here. I get it about the format thing. I guess I just don't have any confidence in my ability to adequately express my ideas in screenwriting, which will probably come with time if I work at it. It's difficult because you can't watch a movie and learn how to actually write the thing. I always find myself wondering how certain things are structured, whether that little action was written or the director/actor threw it in for effect. Which is very different from prose. If I want to see how the author did something, I just pick up the book and look. I'm sure there are tons of scripts available to the public, but I haven't put that much effort into it. I did one short adaptation of a Kurt Vonnegut story - Harrison Bergeron - and I wrote the first act of a drama. As of now, I don't plan on pursuing screenwriting, but I'll probably always mess around and write a little here and there. I dabble in just about everything with words, but mostly prose.
You strike again. I am having an actual conversation with a human being. It doesn't happen very often. I often get that same feeling. That's part of the charm of movies. If you are interested, I personally use Springfieldspringfield. com. Note the intentional space, as I don't know what their policy on links is. I can't say I'm familiar with his work, but then again, I'm more into the obscure stuff. And I'm pretty much the same, only without words, as in I dabble in pretty much everything. What can I say? I'm an ambitious person. I have 10,000 projects (metaphorically, but I wouldn't be all that surprised.) under my belt & 95% of them are incomplete. Or missing. Or gone.
Hello there Your Boy! Nice to meet you. Script writing, that's really cool. I've never written a script before. I'm curious about them and definitely down to chat about scripts and writing in general. I'd really like to make some buddies here too. I'm also quite lonely. I'm a newbie to the forum too. Best wishes for your script and all writing ventures. Hayley
)) Finally, someone sympathetic. I might not be the right person to talk to |f you're looking to create a professional script, as I've yet to complete one & don't follow the guidelines, but |f you're interested, I have no problem telling you about |t.
