    Italicizing ALL ship names?

Discussion in 'Setting Development' started by Damage718, Jul 30, 2020.

I know military/naval vessels are, as in USS Philadelphia, or HMS Victory.

But what about research vessels or even unmanned underwater vehicles (UUV) with a nickname? A story in my current WIP has both of these. I've been italicizing both the research ship and submersible, but is that correct? It LOOKS correct in the copy, but I want to be sure...

"Launch Boaty McBoatface!" commanded the captain.

    Looks fine to me.

    :D

That's what I thought. In this story, I have military ships, pirate ships, research ships, and underwater cameras...so I wanted to ensure that italicizing all of them was correct.

    I thank thee.
