    Do the noodle dance, Brooke!

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by The Bee, Aug 27, 2012.

Hello everyone! I'm Brooke, but everyone likes to call me Bee. I'm 25-years-old and I live in Mississippi. Yes, that avatar is my face. Sadly, my hair isn't that vibrant anymore as it was taken back in March after a Jack White concert in Memphis. I surprised my husband with tickets. It was AWESOME!

Oh right -- yep, I'm married (sorry guys and gals! Haha!). I've been with my husband for nine years, and we've been married for two of them. We have a 3-1/2 year old daughter named Lillian and my little angel boy Jude that I lost at 15 weeks in July. I absolutely love being a mother -- it's honestly my calling, I think. I'm by no means perfect at it, but I do enjoy it. I'm a full-time mom right now and I hope to be one for as long as humanly possible, but ya know how that goes... ;D

I guess I should stop rambling (I'm drinking Red Bull so I apologize!) and talk about my writing, hm? I haven't finished a novel in...well, ever. I normally stick to urban fantasy, supernatural, horror, etc. Give me vamps, werewolves, and zombies to write about any day! A (very) few of my favorite authors are Charlaine Harris, Janet Evanovich and J.K. Rowling. These three women changed my life in one way or another. I met Charlaine not too long ago. She really is an inspiration.

I hang around NaNoWriMo a lot so if anyone else around here let me know! I've been doing it since 2008, but I've only "won" once. Alright, I think I need to stop rambling and go make some lunch for Kidlet... ;D

    Welcome to Writing Forums, Brooke!

I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing.

This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work.

However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirments. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing.

Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills.

If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself, Cogito, Lemex and Dante Dases) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here.

Hi Bee, welcome to Writing Forums! I hope you love it here as much as I do. Seriously, it can get addicting to read all of the amazing tips and knowledge around here...be careful. :D

I loved reading your profile--you're a homemaker? My mom is too, she's been a stay-at-home mom my whole 18 years. Oh, and I like your hair. I'm in love with red hair!! I've been trying to convince myself to dye mine, since I love it so much.

Your writing genres sound awesome, I also have a hard time with consistently writing. I'm an easily distracted person. You know how you have all those ideas that sound good in your head, but are hard to write down? Yeah, that's my downfall or maybe an excuse. I hope to get better at doing and not just thinking.

Well, if you'd like to chat more feel free to send me a message. I'd love to talk with another fellow writer. :)

    See ya around the forums!

    ~Jess
