    Car Accident

Discussion in 'The Lounge' started by Oasis Writer, Jun 3, 2008.

Well, I just got in my second car accident this morning on my way to an eye appointment. Caused 4,000 dollars worth of damage, destroyed school property, and hit an old lady's car. Luckily, the old lady was fine, but otherwise, everyone was safe. Her car destroyed my bumper though :(

Thanks. I'm just glad she's okay. There were two possibilities of her being able to flip her car instantly, and since she was in her 70's - 80's, she probably could have been killed. Manslaughter is much more of a crime.

Yes, it can be traumatic when the elderly are involved in car accidents. Not because I think they should not drive, but because we get more delicate as we grow older and what can easily be shouldered by a young person can be catastrophic for an older person.

The last bad accident I was, the fellah' who hit me didn't make it to the hospital. He was 82.

Second?! Are you going to the optometrist for glasses? ;)

I nearly had a crash last week - it freaked me out and everything went into slow motion, but I survived, as did the car.

Oh, this is the accident you were talking about. Hope everything works out for you, accidents aren't fun. (how could they be?)

Ironic - I saw my life before my eyes again, and it wasn't any better than the last time I did. Sort of like rewatching a boring movie.

The funny thing is, I was actually going into the eye doctors for a better prescription. I still didn't get to go. I have an appointment Friday now.

I hope you didn't mention that in the accident report!

Glad you're ok though. As expensive as an accident repair is, cars are replaceable. You aren't.

Oasis glad that all involved are ok, and yourself. Cars can be replaced or mended, human lives take a long time to heal and can never be replaced.

2 years ago my grandmother hit another car and she never fully recovered and lived alone. She kept having chest pains for months, then was found dead in her home. Very heart breaking. The scariest thing with seniors in car accidents is that there is a great risk of them having a heart attack just from the fright.

But like I said, glad all are ok. :)

I'm glad you're all alright though, Oasis- that's an upside to all of this. I was really worried when you left me that visitor message though. That does suck that you have to pay all of that money, but hey, at least everyone got out of there okay! :)

Jeeze, that's always scary stuff. I'm glad you're doing ok though Oasis. Stuff like that always happens so fast. Like a few people have been saying, cars can be replaced, lives can't. It does stink about the expenses though, but I'm glad everyone involved is alright.

    Safe future travels.
