It brings us no pleasure to announce that longtime member and moderator @jannert has chosen to retire from the Moderation Team. She's been a valuable member of the community for many years, and we hope to see her around the forums for a long time to come. However, our colleague has found that there aren't enough hours in the day to ensure the smooth running of the forum while continuing to be a productive writer. We hope you'll all join us in thanking Jan for her service to writingforums.org and offer her your best wishes and support in her writing.
Good luck Jan, and don't think that your emeritus status will earn you immunity from honest critiques!
But but... no more catchphrase "Putting my mod cap on here." I hope that mod cap gets a good home. Thank you for all your hard work Jannert. You were the most supportive, positive, and helpful mod possible.
we have to share the mod hat - the forum budget doesn't run to one each - its very uncomfortable over my antlers. We will miss Jan in the staffroom, but I'm sure we'll see her around the rest of the forum giving critiques, talking about writing and being the great member she was before her tour of duty. Like Lincolnshire men Mods go straight to heaven, because they've already been to Hull
There's a forum budget...? I'm glad I was able to work with you over the past year in the moderation team @jannert . I lot of good experiences. I hope you get that time you were hoping for to write more now that you don't need to worry about keeping the peace (putting out fires).
Thank you Jan! You made me feel welcome when I joined the forum and provided sound advice. Really appreciate it.
Many thanks go to Jan for welcoming me so thoroughly as a new member, giving me pointers and just all-around showing me that there are still souls out there who appreciate truly worthwhile writing and the trudging through the muck it takes to find it. She's made me feel very welcome and like I've found a new home here already, and while it saddens me I don't have the memories of some others on the forum, I'm glad that I got to know her in her final days of having that mod cap! (Might I suggest adding a "veteran" patch to that mod cap as a going away present?)
Aww ...GUYS! What a nice send-off. I did enjoy being part of the behind-the-scenes stuff, for the most part. But it's time to move along. The pasture awaits.... In fact, I'm hoping to spend MORE time here on the front of the forum, doing interaction and especially critiques. And voting in the contests. And participating in the Book Club. And all the other good stuff the forum offers. I'm already feeling a lot less stressed, and actually thinking about my WIP—which got put firmly on the back burner in the spring of 2019, when I started Modding. It's been—and still is—a pleasure.
Thanks for all your work, Jan. Let us all, as members of the forum, vow to make the work of the next moderator, and all the other moderators, as easy as possible. I am impressed at how civil we generally are to each other, and would like to keep it that way.
You've been a great mod @jannert, really wonderful. Thanks for all the work you put into making this forum a decent place to raise a family.
Thanks for your time and dedication @jannert. I'm glad you'll still be around participating in the forums.
I hope you enjoy your retirement @jannert . Thanks for all of your past modding. I'm sure you're grateful to stop sharing the mod hat with every mod in sundry. It kind of reminds me of the sorting hat in Harry Potter. They must have had some fantastical headlice at Hogswarts.
All the best, @jannert. You did your job here with compassion and understanding, not to mention common sense and reasonability. Thank you.
Best wishes and thanks for all your hard work @jannert! Your kindness has always been appreciated and I look forward to continuing to chin wag with you here, mod hat doffed for good.
Thank you @jannert for stepping up in a time of need. I truly admire your mettle. I wish you many leisurely WF visits to come! Take care!
That’s a shame. You were the only mod I’m not afraid of speaking to directly. Thank you for being so nice and understanding.
