    hello earthlings, fellow writers!!!
Looking to share, explore, and discuss my works and that of yours. Here is something I was inspired by the other day and would like to free write it into a story of sorts. A writer friend of mine posted on facebook the idea of writing one's own epitaph. She was inspired by Sylvia Plath's, as well as I, "amidst the fierce flames, the golden lotus can be planted". What would you write? And how could you turn the epitaph into a story?

    peace
    Autumn

I like your name. It's quite evocative.

Hi, @Autumn Hazel Rain, and welcome to the forum! Please read the New Member Quick Start Guide - it'll get you going around here.

I've never given any thought to what I'd like for my epitaph. Maybe something like, "Well, I'm done. It's up to you guys now." Or, "Find out what killed me and don't do that." Or, "I could go for a cheeseburger right about now." Or, "Control Alt Delete." Or, "Read more books. It's good for your brain."

Thank you! I like the epitaph "I could go for a cheeseburger"! If we could have an epitaph while living, mine would be something like that ;p

Hmm, write your own epitaph feels like a writing prompt, so I moved your thread to another subforum.

I think "Here lies David St. Hubbins... and why not?" is one of the best epitaphs ever coined. :D But what I'd want mine to say, well... Maybe something along these lines:

"I'll see you soon." Or a friendlier variant of it: "See you guys soon."

Familiar with Murakami ? He writes of cats like no-one else, as in Kafka On The Shore. Cats play quite a prominent role in his books but this one puts them almost at the forefront.
