    Novel The Title

Discussion in 'Genre Discussions' started by Karpi, Oct 16, 2007.

Im thinking my novel should be called:

A Day in the Life Of

(throughout the story the point of view switches between 4 different people.)

Would it catch your eye or not?

It would catch my eye, but in a negative manner.

To me, it indicates the mundane, everyday experience. Based soley on the title, I'd be likely to pass it up.

    Just one opinion.

Sounds WAY too derivative, as in One Day in the Life of Ivan Denisovich by Aleksandr Solzhenitsyn. And the Beatles had a song: A day in the life. So I would tend to not pick up the book, thinking it to be less than original.

    Hope that helps,

The beginning of the title suggest an event that took place in one day. What was it? Perhaps it could be weave into the title like the title like the old sci-fi movie "The Day the World Stood Still." Or something like the movie, Days of Wine and Roses."
