Sons and Lovers is said to be his best novel. Women in Love and The Rainbow also pop up in conversations about Lawrence. I haven't read any of his novels, but these are the most popular as far as I know.

I loved "Sons and Lovers" when I did it for A level. But "Women in Love" is a more sophisticated read, and surprisingly modern for a novel 90 years old. I recommend it. A great author generally.
