"Time to get out." he said.

"What? Why?" she asked, bringing herself to a low stance in the still moving vehicle.

Grell was wandering around the back. What was he going on about, she wondered. Her internal questions were soon answered. He rocked the whole truck with his jumping, causing her to lose her balance slightly.

    "Handy tool!" he said.

"Stop jumping! What do you want?"

"Stop jumping! What do you want?"

"BANG BANG BANG!!!! HANDY TOOL!" Grell said.
The Grell stopped jumping just for a second and pointed with his finger towards the woman who spoke. He stared at her with his finger pointed to her face.
"You scrambled my brain and took my handy tool away.....BANG BANG BANG! GIVE GIVE GIVE!" Grell said.

    "Oh, gun." She finally realized.

She stared blankly at him, wondering if it was wise to give him a gun. She did have more guns than hands at the moment...

Handy tool? What the f*ck? Anyways, Dirk had just had a beautiful moment with his homegirl and protector, and G.I. Hoe gets mad about something.

"Keep driving, Sarah. What's the problem, Jason?"

All he can do is sit back and hear the man out. Everybody's patience was being tried, perhaps Jason was no different.

"That egg was scrambled long before any of us met you. Anyway, it's not polite to point," Fitz said, gently lowering Grell's arm. It only took a brief glance around the truck bed to see Grell's shotgun was tucked away in the corner where he'd been sleeping all this time. Fitz reached out and picked it up. "Here's your 'handy tool,'" he said, passing it to him. "Please be a little more mindful of where you put it. The fairies are depending on you to protect them."

Grell grabbed the shotgun out of Gritze's hands quickly.
"The faeries never said you gots to talk about them....my brain was blocked and I fell asleep, I can't remember where I put stuff in the sleep cause my eyes are closed," Grell said.
Grell sat back down in the truck bed and began mumbling and humming to himself silently.

So any chance I had of a moment was blown away by a mix of crazy dude shouting and rocking the truck, and GI Jane hanging out on the side of the car like he was trying to be batman or something. I rolled down my window annoyed. "What do you want?" I asked calmly.

Although the group never agreed on a destination, Sarah, their driver, had her mind made up. When Jason mentioned survivor camps in Texas, she immediately began heading in that direction. It wasn't until hours later, when they crossed the border from New Mexico to Texas that she was finally forced to voice her plan. Everyone was sound asleep, tired out by their personal squabbles and relationships. She knew waking them all would only result in more dissent; she was smarter than that.

She pulled over to the side of the road, with only a few minutes of daylight remaining and exited the cab. "Hey," she whispered, shaking the sniper from his slumber. He was in the bed, cuddling his rifle like a teddy bear as he slept. "I need you to drive. Take us to those camps you were talking about," she said, careful not to wake the others.

He silently climbed down from the bed. Although he was pissed she hadn't listened to him earlier, now wasn't the time to argue about it. Better late than never. After pouring the last of the fuel into the tank, he took his place behind the wheel and they continued heading eastward, to what they hoped would be a safe haven.

    * * *

It was nearly midnight. Jason squinted to make out the angular figures in the rural darkness. “That looks like the place,” he whispered to himself, slowing the truck. They were about a hundred miles north of Houston, far from the big cities, but the building before them was massive. It was built like a prison; ten stories of steel and concrete, with only the occasional window. The lights were off, probably to keep the zombies away, but he was sure this was the place he’d seen before.

He brought the truck to a stop before a thick iron fence, decked out in barbed wire and spikes. This place was definitely designed to keep the undead out. He could see a few rotting bodies impaled on the spikes, but the gate itself seemed indestructible; too high to climb and too thick to ram through. It could certainly weather a zombie invasion or two. The smell of burning flesh suggested it was also electrified. Good. They’ve got power on in there, he thought.

There was a small computer console on the side, allowing the driver to put down the window and have his or her palm scanned. Any cold-blooded creature, such as a zombie, would ultimately fail this test; only living humans could get by. Security is kinda lax, he thought, as the gate opened to let them in without any further questions. But they needed a place to stay for the night and this was as good as any. besides, the fuel was running low again.

He drove inside as the gates slammed shut behind them with a heavy clang. There was no turning back now.

As the gates clanged shut, Sarah woke with a jump.
"Why didn't you wake any of us, you idiot!?" she said loudly. "Don't you remember what we talked about?"
Before she had fallen asleep, she and Jason had talked extensively about what might wait for them when they arrived. They might be extremely unfriendly survivors or, in the same vein, they might have been infected.
As the truck rolled to a stop, she began to shake everyone in the truck awake, telling them to get their weapons ready. She jumped out and ran around to the back where Kaeila, Fitz and Grell had been sleeping. She marveled at how anyone could have fallen asleep in the back of a truck outside, then banged on the side of the truck, waking them all up.

    * * *
Jerry awoke to see Sarah nearly atop him. He grinned like an idiot, then realized that she was speaking.
"Wake up! Get your weapons out!"
Jerry groaned and sat up. He had been slumped between the window and the headrest and his hair was jutting out in awkward angles.
"Mhhhmmwha?" Jerry said. The truck had stopped. Jerry pulled on the door handle and nearly tumbled out onto the driveway. They were in front of a massive building, a monstrosity built of concrete, steel, and ugly. He pulled his small pistol out of his knapsack.

"We have found the kingdom of those who eat to much," Grell said coming out of the bed of the truck.
He was tired of sitting in there, especially when the stupid truck was moving. But it was his own fault. That made him giggle.
"Those who eat to much are those who have scramble brains for breakfast everyday....oh I hope they didn't get the apple out of the drain, that was mine," Grell paused, "If ya eat to many waffles the waffle kings kicks a can, the can calls aliens and then...."

"Grell," echoed a voice from far off in the distance, but coming quickly, "OH MY GOD GRELL!!"

A handsome young man came out from the distant fog, or maybe dust. He was attractive and probably a lady looker. He embraced Grell in a hug and while hugging Grell he stuck his hand out.
"Hi...I am Jamie Nightwalker, Grell's brother....I came here earlier with some military guy named Dawnson...he was turned into a zombie and I had to run...I had no clue I was going to meet up with people here," the man said.

I remember everything that happened. Me playing Jake and him telling me I’m good at what I do, the kiss from Jake that stunned me, Dirks talk with his body guard Kaeila, the choice to go to Texas, Jakes bad Pick up line; it was crazy cute.

I remember hearing the beer cans popping one after another; Dirk knows he didn’t need all of them, Grell jumping to find his “Handy tool” he called it. Now I understand what they meant by Nuthouse…

I remember GI Jane hanging over the truck bed wanting to stop… let’s just say weirdo.

Remembrance kills the cat, just watching and noticing everyone’s actions and reactions, I drifted off to sleep inside Jakes arms.

Sarah, I guessed was the first up, because she was screaming like someone was ripping her body parts out.
My eyes opened, I looked around being very cautious, one hand on my sheath. I saw a huge building, concrete and ugly. Not my first choice of a Camp, but it would do. At first I didn’t know where we were, but seeing all the security precautions I figured it out.

I jumped out of the truck, sliding the machete out of my sheath getting ready to attack. I wanted to run in and see if Rob was in there but I relaxed and waiting for everyone else to make a move.

“What do we do next?” I asked outloud. I heard a voice of a man, running towards us, I was going to attack before he called Grells name, I slowed my pace, letting my hand drop, as he ran to hug him, he explained his story and before he can ask anything else, I mumble out.

“Is Robert Winfield in there. Please tell me he is here.”

Kaeila was awake now, and the truck was coming upon some massive structure. She stayed still, quiet in the back. When they entered, she assumed they'd come to some refugee camp.

"Wake up! Get your weapons out!" Sarah yelled.

Kaeila already had her hand on her gun, but she didn't see a reason to pull it out. Not yet. When the truck came to a stop, she jumped out of the back, glad to stretch her legs. A man came running from nowhere, she almost pulled her gun on him when he yelled, "Grell, OH MY GOD GRELL!!"

He embraced one of the crazier of the group and stuck his hand out.

"Hi...I am Jamie Nightwalker, Grell's brother....I came here earlier with some military guy named Dawnson...he was turned into a zombie and I had to run...I had no clue I was going to meet up with people here," the man said.

She took his hand, a firm grip and a shake. "Kaeila," she replied simply.

    "Kaeila,"
"Pleasure Mrs. Kaeila, very nice name you have...sorry if you had to babysit Grell," Jamie said.
He let go of his embrace on Grell, but stayed close his brother. Jamie stared at what was in Grell's hand a shotgun. He recognized it as well. It was the shotgun Grell's roommate bought. Jamie didn't care if he had it, he needed it especially with the zombies around.
"There are a few zombies around here, Dawnson was turned into a zombie and most of the civilians he brought along got infected," Jamie said, "I escaped without a bite or scratch or an infection.

Grell stared at Jamie, and then went back to his usual humming and mumbling.
"Place the butter in the batter and you get a penny worth ten cents a diamond," Grell said.
Something here through the dust was unsettling, even in a state like this Grell could feel it cause the fairies were telling him so.

"Any more survivors?" she asked. She scanned the area, seeing no threats. "This area is secure?"

I looked at him unaware if he didnt hear me or was ignoring me, i felt the rudeness break through and i wanted to scream at him, but i knew i was over reacting. I Looked at him again
"Jamie isnt it, Im lorraine, but is there any other survivors". I asked. "Well just one by the name of Robert 'Rob' Winfield. My brother."

I kept an eye on him awaiting his reply. Hopefully it was good news.

    "Any more survivors?"
"Not that I would know of...I ran and didn't look back when the zombies started attacking," Jamie said, "Lucky I found you guys and my brother...I surely thought he was dead, I didn't know because he was at the college and none of the phones were working."
"Place the butter in the batter and you get a penny worth ten cents a diamond,"
Jamie stared at Grell for a moment, just listened and then thought for a second.
"You know, you're right," Jamie said grabbing Grell by the wrist and bringing him in closer knowing his brothers wondering around nature, "That's a good idea, didn't even know why I didn't think of that."
    He turned towards the others.
"My brother seems to be more of a nutter butter from the last time I seen him, do you any of you know when he last took his meds?" he asked.

Grell didn't like being controlled. His brother did that all the time, grabbed him. Brought him in close. It was the way Jamie babysat him. He didn't need sitting.
"Don't sit on me ham and cheese ain't that good," Grell said.

The tears began to run down my cheek again and i didnt care what anyone said. I was on the verge of being a down right b*tch but i knew that wouldnt help anyone right now.
I walked away from the crowd and went to stand by the truck alone. I needed some air.
    I thought to myself.

    why exactly am i here.

I let go the anger of Grell finding his brother, it could have been that he needed his brother more than i needed mine, he was a little on the crazy side, but there was no need for my judgement.
The tears continued to flow down my face and i stood there wanting to scream at the world.

I stood silently back, watching people talk. I was absorbing as much information as possible after having to release Loriane from my arms. I stood near her, but slightly behind with my gun drawn. Before I hadn't cared to much for the others, but now I had someone I wanted to watch out for.

Then Loriane broke down. It must have been something the nut job's brother had said. I followed her, silently wrapping my arms around her. "It's going to be just fine. Just wait and see." I lied, the world would never be just fine again.

Fitz awoke to the sound of frantic yelling and someone calling Grell's name. He stood and attempted to walk out of the truck bed, which resulted in him missing a step and landing face down on the pavement. He quickly sprang up, as if it never happened, and sauntered over to the rest of the group. They seemed to be talking to some new guy. From the looks of it, this fellow had seen better days.

"My brother seems to be more of a nutter butter from the last time I seen him, do you any of you know when he last took his meds?" he asked.

"Meds are for people who are just visiting, but he's a permanent resident of Crazyland. He's even shown us all his green card to prove it," Fitz said. "No matter. A little crazy never hurt anyone. I would know."

After hearing the news, Lorraine walked away from the crowd in tears. Fitz knew it was time to start taking things a little more seriously. "Lets talk business," he said, shaking Jamie's hand. He pulled him in close, to get a good look at him. No bites, no scratches. Good "You say you were attacked by zombies? Okay, then why are we still here? Time to go. Let's all pile back in the truck and forget this ever happened," he said. "Open the gate, if you don't mind... you can open the gate can't you?"

"Dawson cut the power of anyone, but military personal to open the gates...I don't know how you got in," Jamie paused, "And that card isn't a green card from Crazyland."
Jamie felt the push of his brother yanking his wrist at out of his hand. Jamie stared at the girl crying, he made a girl cry.
"And it's not like I would know who your brother is we only had about a good five members with me...of course Dawson was talking to other military personal, they said they brought citizens, most of the people that were in my group were elderly folks," Jamie said.
    Jamie stared at the girl.
    "Sorry,"

Grell stared at Jamie's back and then stared at Gritze for a moment. The unsettling feel in the dust was getting thicker.
"Wrap yourself and lock yourself away because the apple king is coming,"

"Let's stop jerking around and see what's up." he said.

He grabbed his rifle and opened the gate. He then shouldered it and started to slowly walk down the main path, occasionally looking through the scope.

I wanted to be alone, after Grell finding his brother and after there were no news on my brothers where abouts. I couldn’t cope with the knew knowledge. I stood standing next to the truck. My eyes full of tears were now red. I watched Jake follow me, like magnets we had to be by each other, he wrapped his arms around me, holding me close.
"It's going to be just fine. Just wait and see."

I didn’t believe him, he had to be lying. The world would never be fine; we would never be fine again.

I guess Jamie saw my tears… I was in so much agony.
"And it's not like I would know who your brother is we only had about a good five members with me...of course Dawson was talking to other military personal, they said they brought citizens, most of the people that were in my group were elderly folks," Jamie said. “Sorry”.

I couldn’t really blame him could I? He wasn’t responsible for my brother, it just hurt to watch crazy over there having his brother… but its much better for him, because I didn’t know if he would turn and be psycho from hell, at least there was someone here to control him.

"Let's stop jerking around and see what's up." Jason said. He grabbed his riffle walking outside the gate. I didn’t know if that was safe idea. I motioned for Jake to let me go and grabbed his hand. “Let’s Follow”

"Let's stop jerking around and see what's up." he said.
    Jamie nodded his head.
"Though it sounds a bit dangerous let's go see if there is anyone...maybe your brother," Jamie said.
Jamie walked over beside Grell and put his hand on his back. Jamie smiled and stared at the dust for a moment.
"Come one Nutter Butter, let's go follow him," Jamie said.

He was doing it again, it should have been clear. It was clear to the fairies, but not him. He didn't wanted to be controlled. He had enough of that, being strapped to beds and being controlled. He had enough and he was trying to direct him.
His anger was the only thing coherent enough, but it was dangerous cause it made other things bubble up.
Grell grabbed Jamie's arm and threw it off. Jamie let it happened, worse enough let himself fall to the ground. Grell didn't care he pointed his shotgun to Jamie.
"I AM NOT YOUR NUTTER BUTTER.....YOU STAY AWAY FROM ME......STAY OR I'LL BANG BANG YOU I WILL!" Grell yelled.
"Nutter Butter," Jamie said getting up in that concerned way.
    "DON'T TOUCH ME....DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T DON'T!" Grell said.
Grell slow his paced and walked backwards quickly. He would use Gritze as a shield.
    "Gritze I'm behind ya,"

"And I suppose these military guys are holed up inside somewhere, behind closed doors, where the zombies can't reach them?" Fitz rubbed his chin, ponderously. "Hmmm... we can't get out until we get in. What an interesting predicament.... Fortunately, this is a survival camp. I bet there's plenty of food, water, and whatnot inside, for those still alive to use it." He drew his sword. "We shall raid this mighty castle and leave with the spoils of war. Tonight, we dine in Hell!"

"Let's stop jerking around and see what's up." Jason said, charging toward the front door with his rifle drawn.

"When did he get so gung ho?" Fitz said, lowering his weapon. "We should probably go in as a group," he called out to Jason. "Now come on back, Leeroy Jenkins and wait until everyone's ready. Sit. Stay. Good boy."

He realised everyone was following the sniper in. Oh well, he thought, falling in with the rest of them.

"Gritze I'm behind ya," Grell said.

"And with a shotgun, too. How delightful."

I nodded, hapy that she was ready to do something other than cry this quick. I held her hand tight, my other held tight to my gun, as she led the way after him. It was erie on the other side. GI Jane kept checking his scoop and I kept an open eye myself. "So much for finding safety." I muttered. "Maybe now they'll head for florida." I added giving Loriane a hopeful look.
