Well, today I want to talk about this "stealth blimp". A lot of people have been sighting strangely shaped aircrafts along the southwestern sky. A logical explanation is that an experimental, innovative stealth blimp was hovering by. Look up images, this thing looks huge. Maybe a mile wide. Also, the p791 by Lockheed Martin looks strange. It's an innovative blimp. Do you think such thing exists?
At a mile wide, no, I do not think they exist. There is nothing to be gained, strategically or tactically, from a blimp of such brobdingnagian dimensions.
Stealth aircraft do exist, though none are a mile long (trying to get that thing to fly would be a very challenging task!). It very well could be a blimp, though it would be hard to tell whether it's a stealth blimp or not. By the way, stealth has nothing to do with the actual size of the aircraft. Stealth refers to the ability of the aircraft to be undetectable by conventional radar detection methods. There aren't very many obvious signs on the outside of the aircraft itself that would allow someone to figure out if the aircraft is a stealth aircraft or not, especially if that aircraft is a blimp.
Well, not exactly. There are other factors like infrared detection and other radio phenomena that also come into play. At the dimensions the OP proposes, size does come into play, because stealth technology does also include simple visual detection. Even if a craft of such size were radar negative, it would show up on human eyeballs from quite a distance, and as an aerostatic vehicle, even if it were a hybrid, it would still be so slow as to serve more as a ready made practice target for the enemy.
Stealth missions are flown during the night anyways because of obvious signs like contrails, so size shouldn't really be a problem. Some of the largest stealth aircraft measure over 150 feet from wingtip to wingtip. While that's nowhere near a mile across, for me, the bigger issue is getting aircraft a mile across to fly in the first place. There's just no freaking way that's going to happen.
Agreed on this. The cost in gas alone for an aerostatics vehicle of this size would be monstrous, and how do you make it strong enough and also light enough at that size? No.
As technology continues to improve, they're going to come up with inventions like this stealth blimp more and more. Hence, people who see weird things in the sky will probably continue to become even more common in the future than it already is.
If you've heard of the Stealth Blimp, then the Stealth Blimp has failed. Secret stealth blimps are nothing new, though. Half the time they're the cause of most UFO sightings.
Here is a picture I took with my cellphone camera. Also I heard that its driven by a guy wearing an American flag, and powered by nerds. Also there's a dude with a bow and like twenty arrows, if you ask me he's a little too excited for the new hunger games movie. But its not a mile long that's just plain crazy.
It's very difficult to estimate the size on an object in the sky. People build their own drones these days, so perhaps it's one of these (much smaller and much closer).
