Tell me about it. I can count the number of named characters on both hands in mine, with fingers to spare.

I'd say most of mine are LOTR x ASOIAF - Dragons/Hobbits

Haha, that's pretty much what most of my ideas are. I have two main ones, the fantasy one that I've already mentioned (and have started writing) and one set in a "modern" fictional world that is probably going to be about political intrigue (and since I'm that kind of person, I'm going to have names (at the very least) for every member of the House Representatives in the fictional country, so the number of named characters is going to be in the 100s).

I seriously have names for all the characters in the story I'm brainstorming except for the main character...

Have been pondering what to name him for months now... is that bad? ._.

If i don't list a last name either they don't have on or i just haven't given them one yet. There are also many characters i haven't gotten to in the story yet so they just don't have names.

    Major:
Ophelia "Lia" Grey (told through her perspective/MC)
    Kamoril "Kam" (love interest/MC)
    Laurell Grey (Grandmother)
    Myra (main antagonist)
    Caladwyn (queen of light elves)
Zevran (king of night elves/kamoril's father)

    Minor:
    Llyr Grey (MC father)
    Maliky Grey (MC little brother)
    Jocelyn Grey (MC little sister)
    Veronica "Roni" (MC boss)
    Mason (veronica's boyfriend)
    Mrs. Kelly (Shakespeare professor)
    Bennett Kelly (husband)
    Mrs. Franks (substitute)
    Yuri (driver/ delivery man)
    Nivan (king of sprites)
    Maerie (queen of pixies)
    Alistair (king of gnomes)
    Oleander (king of merpeople)
    Aria (queen of sirens)
    Jemma (queen of sirens)
    Hesia (queen of dragons)
    Theyar (dragon council member)
    Galadra (same)
    Freya (same/galadra twin sister)
    Cyran (same)
    Nera (same)
    Rylok (leader of dragon warriors)
    Mahaway (centaur general)
    Heliodor (centaur king)
    Apollo (pegasus king)
    Regatta (heliodor's wife)

I see you have used some Elven sounding names in your story :D In my story I am using lots of Old English names that mean something. For example, Éohil comes from the words "éo" (horse) and "hild" (shield).

Many of the Rohirrim in LotR have "éo" at the start of their name because the Méadras (horses) were where famed for. Éowyn translates to "Horsejoy", "éo" (horse) and "wyn" meaning Joy.

Now this is interesting as one of your character's name also ends in "wyn". Did you know of it's meaning in Old English?

Anyhow your list sounds brilliant and is bursting with names inspired by so many civilisations, Greek andNorse to name 2.

    Good luck!

Hmm. It isn't bad; it might just be that you are expecting a quality of name to come along that encompasses that character's whole emotional palette.

I might be able to help? If you tell a bit about the world he's in ( whether it's in the real world - if not about the world tell me a bit about it). What the era is, where they are from, social status.

I have an eventual main group of nine (which I'm not starting the series with so don't worry. Gradual integration of characters is my friend)

    Melanthe "Mel" Xanteila
    Rune Xanteila
    Aeson "Ace" Ozphir
    Ike Ozphir (by adoption)
    Eli Keitane
    Circe Marigos
    Tamryn "Tammy" (unknown surname)
    Todd Süldryck
Misto (does not have a surname)

I have a bunch of side characters too but they don't have last names yet so I'll get back to you on that

    Major (Protagonist):

Migilina (A migy is a type of monster in my story, so as her name implies Migilina is a female migy)

Valask (Voodoo doll brought to life with the black magic)

Eileen Joove (Originally thief who used her power of speed to steal objects of value and sell them for a living)

    Aidan Joove (Eileen's brother)

Friskull (Cyborg/skeleton that has been frozen in ice for a decade)

Still need to find a name for the main hero...

    Major (Antagonist):

Hexus (Tyrant of the world the story takes place in for the larger portion)

Chill Bones (One of Hexus's followers who is a large skeleton being who has the power to freeze over a desert)

...Hexus has other followers just I can't figure out names for them yet

Mr. Q (Leader of Organization Q who's intentions are kept secret)

There's a ton more characters I just haven't thought up names for them yet .-.

    Xanteila = "Zan-Tay-La"

    Süldryck = "Sool-drick"

    If that makes sense
