    Literary movements...?

Discussion in 'Book Discussion' started by aModernHeathen, Sep 14, 2019.

How much importance do you guys place in literary movements? Do they interest you at all? Will you read an author specifically because they're from a certain movement, or do you just read whoever, whenever, because you like their work?

I've thought more and more about reading from specific movements, just to educate myself about the various styles of writing over the years and how they've changed, developed and evolved.

If possible, do you have a specific literary movement that you can suggest to start with? For example, should I start reading authors from the realism movement? Or absurdism... maybe postcolonialism?

    Thanks guys!
