Looking for anyone who would be willing to be a beta reader for a finished piece I have been working on for some time. I am creating a questionnaire as I would be looking for specifics to ensure I have created what I wanted to. I'm currently in the process and checking through the grammar. (I don't expect anyone to grammar check the whole thing but rather if something obvious sticks out to you then let me know.) The whole work is around 60k words but I understand that is a big ask to expect for a favour. So if anyone is willing to read through a few chapters and then if they did want to continue I could send some more. Would also be happy to beta read someone else's work in exchange as I know that critiquing others work helps with your own anyway so I would love to help someone else too! I'd class it as Psychological horror but may be less horrifying and more psychological. I don't want to send to any agencies until I've had a bit of critique given that I will be so attached to this piece now that I probably won't be able to see the faults in story etc. Thank you in advance!
would you be willing to post a synopsis/blurb for us to get a sense of what its about? Is it adult or YA?
Ill do it, but it will take a while. Needs a synopsis though so i know what im getting into and can give you a relevant timeline.
Sorry guys! I should have included that haha! It's adult fiction. I'm not too amazing at blurbs/synopsis but I'll give it a wack: Career driven Ally Johnson is insane and only has her imaginary talking rabbit to confide in. When she looses her job she decides to take a trip to the quiet village of Wreath to give herself a break. When Ally discovers Wreaths past of Witch hunting she discovers that the dark history may not be history at all. (I think that's pretty much spoiler free haha)
Sounds interesting. I've never done anything like that before but that fact could be useful too. I have a few pieces I hope to get published at some point, so reluctant to post generally. A reciprocal approach could prove beneficial. You can keep me in mind, if you want.
Thank you everyone! I'm more than happy to review work as a swop! (I love reading peoples stories on here anyway, I feel like I'm privy to some kind of pre order of new work haha!) If anyone is happy for me to send a few chapters over for now, do you mind private messaging me your emails? Or, if you aren't comfortable with that if you have an other suggestion on how I can send. (not too sure what people have done in the past with this)
I'm really not good on navigating through sites like this. Does 'start a conversation ' mean private messaging? Or is it still visible to everyone?
I know I am very late to this, but if you are still looking for readers I have some free time at the moment!
