Hey there. Please call me Shivers, if you like. This is my first time joining a forum like this and I'm really excited to be doing so. I've craved to be a part of a writing community for a long time. I generally prefer writing fantasy fiction or poetry - I feel that's where I flourish best. But I'm always interested in dipping my spoon into other genres. After all, challenge is the best way to improve. I joined for a few reasons I suppose. For a long time I've really needed to speak with other writers. It's been really difficult for me to find friends or acquaintances who also write and could provide insight and constructive criticism when it comes to creating literary content. I've been working on a novel for quite a while now and I'm at the stage where I'm really in need of blunt, honest critiques. I mean, you can really only get so far pestering friends and family for feedback. I need critiques from people who actually care about literature and writing. So I'm thinking this'll be a great place for an aspiring novelist like me! I'm looking forward to speaking with some of you!
That word choice, though... It made me shiver. Welcome to WF, bro. Make yourself at home. I'm new here, too. It's nice to meet you. Good luck with all the stuffs. I hope you enjoy forums.
I've taken a lot of inspiration from Tolkien in terms of constructing languages and creatures, but overall I'm writing more urban/sci-fi fantasy. I really enjoy working with that kind of futuristic setting.
@susurrusshivers & @EMIN3M Here's the thread for if you want to talk about your world if you want to share or have it looked at. https://www.writingforums.org/threads/tell-me-about-your-world.148930/
Welcome Shivers...I like the name. I write what I call lite fantasy....magical elements but in contemporary setting. I love horror, but not the blood thirsty kind. I'm also a big fan of sci-fi. I too joined this to share my struggles and successes in everyday writing. It can be a lonely place, without others who understand the process.
I know the feeling of wanting to know other writers and hear feedback from other people other than family and friends. I write fantasy too, and I love reading them. I'm trying out different genres though. I guess you can say we have a lot in common (Which also includes Undertale )I'm happy to welcome you on the site and maybe I'll take a look at your story when you share it.
