After sending in three sample chapters, I have received a request from a publisher to see my memoir manuscript. I asked the publisher in a subsequent email what font they preferred and was told it didn't matter a long as it was legible. What is the industry standard?
Not sure there is one. I'd be inclined to take them at their word and choose a legible one you like (I'm a Arial man, myself). Congrats on the manuscript request.
Thanks, I wrote it in Arial, but just converted the whole thing to Times New Roman. Most advice on the 'net suggests that is the most commonly expected.
Traditionally, 12 point Times New Roman is the font of choice for text on paper, or longer works such as an entire manuscript, but sans-serif fonts such as Arial, Calibri, etc, are preferred for web presentation. No idea why.
I traditionally use 12 point Times New Roman for such purposes. I learned this one day in college when I wrote a study and contacted EduBirdie to try to edit my text. the first thing they fixed was the font size and the font itself.
