I write using Scrivener. It is able to compile to Kindle (.mobi) format, but there are issues with the formatting in the resulting file. Specifically, I want a hanging indent for each paragraph, and while that's specified in the formatting in Scrivener, the resulting .mobi doesn't have it. It's the last thing I need to fix before publishing. What software do you recommend for fixing niggling little issues like this?
I imagine it is, but given that the novel is completely written in Scrivener, and my only formatting issue is the one of the hanging indents.
Hmm... Found this from Amazon. Giving it a try, I'll report back. https://www.amazon.com/Kindle-Create/b?ie=UTF8&node=18292298011
I am looking forward to your report. I have downloaded and installed that app about half a dozen times. It will NOT run on my computer -- which is an unmodified Dell Inspiron running Windows 10, release 20H2 (the most recent update). Nobody can explain why it won't run, but it won't. It looked very promising, so I'm more than a little bummed out that I can't even give it a test drive.
I was looking for something to edit a .mobi. This thing requires starting with .doc or .docx. The quest continues.
Would anything in this help? https://ebooks.stackexchange.com/questions/2449/is-there-an-easier-way-to-edit-a-mobi-file
I worked it out. Apparently Kindle (Amazon) prefers a new format called KPF (Kindle package format). I downloaded an app from Amazon/Kindle called Kindle Previewer. After making a couple of adjustments in the Scrivener format templates and the resulting MOBI in Kindle Previewer, I was able to export it KPF.
