There were plans for a marketing/services section for late June. Are those plans still on the table, or have they been scrapped? I'm sorry if this has already been publicly discussed, but I can't find anything about it on the forums. If this was somehow forgotten over time, then I'll suggest this: A services section, as of now you can't provide services, even when they are free. A services section where you can provide free or paid services surrounding writing, publishing etc. I myself would suggest free services only. So for example, someone making book covers for free, for people who's stories aren't published, yet would like to post their stories online with a nice cover.
I don't recall any "plans", only a general discussion. I still believe it is a bad idea. There are good reasons for not permitting any advertising on this site.
main reason i can thnk of is that it would be a free trolling place [in the fishing sense of the word] for scammers... and i seriously doubt whether anyone on the site would have the time or ability or desire to work full time on vetting all who post there, to keep the trolls out...
It's been primarily discussion, but I may have suggested we'll have some way to satisfy this demand. I think if implemented properly it can be a valuable asset - but of course it also carries risks/negatives as you're aware. Right now I'm exploring a few options: - a aid marketplace, with a listing fee and admin approval - a forum where only established members can post (and maybe see) services, recommendations, etc. (free only) - a resource section for approved resources, moderated In reality I may end up implementing a combination of these for slightly different purposes. See above. I'm still looking into if and how I want to implement this. I'm in the process of preparing some major site upgrades - if there's a section for this sort of thing look for an announcement sometime after the upcoming upgrade.
