Would it be bad to write a story in which I simply tell what happens, and not include any description or sensory details? Do any modern authors do this?
Some Viking sagas are a bit like that, but even they have description ... you could write a book purely in telling mode and still have description , though I'm not sure why you would want to
It would depend on what’s happening I guess. I’ve written two stories that are sort of like that for contests here that both won. One I removed visual senses by having the setting completely dark, but I still had descriptions for all of the other senses. The other was from the perspective of a computer slowly emerging into self awareness, it was mostly an internal struggle, so I needed very little else. Being a conputer, emotions and things were not included purposefully. If the story is mostly internal i could see it working.
