Like toilet paper, I'm on a roll

Chpt 40 complete Wc now 96,347 - the last three chpts with Caden for Alpha crit.

I reckon there's only two or three chpts after this so i'm very nearly there ...next chpt big climax battle scene and last twist , then a final chapter tying up loose ends, and a final epilogue, plus chpt one of the next book Code of Honor - If I carry on doing one chpt a night this time next week i'll be at first draft complete.

I think I should take a few days to bask in my success and celebrate with friends ;)

Also in a practical sense I think i'll leave this to gestate for a little while, as i need to get the bits of 'the darkest storm' that are demanding to be written out of my head

(plus i'll need the crit on the last five chapters before i second draft - seems my alpha reader is distracting herself from the job at hand ;) )

work started on The Darkest Storm (hence forth TDS) , chpt 1 complete and sent to caden wc 2488 ... this is going to be a distraction from ATW for a little while to give me fresh eyes when I come back to it.

TDS is very different, its written in first rather than third, and set in the real world , allbeit slightly into the future. In essence America has drifted further to the right and is now actively persecuting gays and other minorities confiscating their property and sending them to treatment camps. the MC is a British guy called Steve Miller , AKa Duster or Dusty who goes into america to rescue his gay friend Aldo.

Duster isn't an especially good guy - Ex forces, he kills people for a living , when he isn't robbing banks or doing occasional spells of BG work for arms dealers. He doesn't have much of a moral compass, except that no one fucks with his friends, but being a bad guy gives him a lot of leeway in how he responds to threat. It also gives him the skills and contacts to take on a fascist police state.

Also along for the ride we have FMC Elin Strider, a highly attractive, possibly danish, PI who Duster was protecting when the book opened, okay so bringing your principal with you on a job like this is somewhat against the rules, but then sleeping with your principals is a bit of a no no and they are doing that as well. As far as Duster is concerned rules are for other people.

I've got about 8 different stories in my head , its all I can do to keep it to writing one per session. Course sometimes i get flashes of inspiration where a scene or character i thought of for one, fits much better into something different.

Also it helps that while they are all broadly the same genre of action thriller they are different in style.. e.g in TDS there is more sex than in ATW, a lot more (and given that ATW had a blow job interupted by rocket fire in the first chapter thats saying something)

It tends to go in bursts, I've not written anything for about four days, I don't always feel like it, but when I do I generally knock out a couple of thousand words a night

I know this is from a while ago, but you are a machine!

I admire your strength and speed. I wish I could pump out word counts as fast as that!

Congratulations on completing your last novel by the way, I hope all goes well with TDS :)

Stephen king says writers should aim for 2k per day - i'm not quite there yet, but that's the idea - the limit on my speed isnt the actual writing its the ideas... 2k per night would be a 100k novel in 50 days, but it takes me longer than that to think up the whole plot, characters etc.

I need the extra time to refill my creative font and let various ideas marinade in their own juice.
