It's great to hear that you have the confidence to speak about this sort of thing DOZ. That shows alot about your character in itself. I haven't read the thread so don't know if this has been said or not but if you really want this to work, you need to make sure that for the first month, you make the walking your first priority. It's easier to control your eating than it is motivating yourself to move. By making your walking your first priority(I would suggest for at least a month if not longer) on a regular, structured timetable, you begin to make the walking a habitual thing. We all know that humans are beings of habit, and as such, if you get into the habbit of going for a stroll, everything else will come much easier to you. I've never had any trouble with my weight. But I have been in a fairly elite sporting team for soccer. The things I had to do for that were intense. We spent at least 2 hours sprinting followed by an hour long game/drills 4 times a week. This became habbit and as the structured trainings cut back, pretty much the entire squad continued doing the sprints and following our fitness program. Its all in making things habbit. That should be your immediate goal. I hope this works out for you. Good luck!
Frost is right DOZ. Concentrate on one thing at a time and walking would be the first thing to concentrate on. I think it is wonderful that everyone is kind enough to offer you so much support on this DOZ. Makes ya feel all warm inside.
I'm not old enough to think of good weight techniques, nor have I have I been THAT fat, but it's still not AS fat as some people i know, so chill. The first step is worth a hundred. You can do it!
Thanks so much guys. I'm still amazed and astounded by the support. I actually went for a walk tonight and it started raining! My boyfriend and I were extremely soaked by the time we got back home!
Well DOZ you asked everyone for support and are a sweetie so of course you were going to get it. It's a huge step you are taking and everyone knows that with extra support and encouragement you will get to your goal in no time at all.
Here's what my Mom sent me. I am walking more and cut down on sweetened drinks. Use splenda (not the other brands) bad for your health. Lots of fresh produce or frozen veg. Cut out processed foods, cook from fresh as much as possible. Lots of salads add chicken or tuna to those to make them a proper meal. Cut way down on salad dressings or make your own fromvinegar honey or mustard and oil and spices. Walk rather than take a car and drink lots of water. Tea is also good. She also wishes you luck.
Wow! Tell her thanks heaps from me please! I will be going for a walk soon, hopefully it wont rain on the way home!
I'm so proud of you for being honest and true to yourself and I know you can do this I love you and wish you lots of luck and success
AWWWWWWWWWWWWW thanks guys.. again! Unfortunatly, I don't run! Well, not for very long let me tell you! I went for my walk again tonight so YAY!
LOL. thanks. I gota keep doing it otherwise I'd be like, I'll do it tomorrow, then that will turn into I can't be bothered then what's the point! So I must try and walk! Except I wont this friday cause I'm going to go see my dad in another town. But I will walk on saturday!
Oh hardihar har. I DON'T THINK SO! try the nearest town.. half hour away by driving???? NOT GONNA HAPPEN WALKING! until I'm like, size ten maybe!
I wouldn't even try it then. Unless you like hiking all day. That could be an interesting goal. Cheers
Yeah, I suppose. There are heaps of bushtracks around here, you just have to be careful of all the poiseness snakes hanging around.
Those old roads can be cool to walk or bike down. Although in Canada we have to watch out for bears, not snakes.
They're on the West Coast. My home town is in the centre of Canada. So the only big cats are lynx, and they're not big. They are also almost impossible to see.
They weigh like 30 or 40 pounds, and are the equivalent of a medium size dog. If you really piss one off they're dangerous, otherwise they're cowardly things that move around at night.
