Multiple Main Characters Switching Lies and Needs

Discussion in 'Plot Development' started by Alex Brandt, Mar 14, 2019.

If you have multiple main characters, with different Lies and Needs (I'm referring to K.M. Weiland's definition of the Lie and the Need for characters) would it be ultimately pointless for the characters to just switch?
For example, one MC believes being rigid will bring him happiness, while the other believes having no responsibility will make him free. If they were to switch, first guy lightens up and second guy grows up... would that have a zero gain? Or would it have to be a compromise?

It wasn't much of a movie but it was interesting how there lives and truths changed.

Without knowing more I'd say that's a good start. I'm picturing a 'learn from each other' type of scenario.
