So back in August I posted a story, "The Unknown Depths" to the writer's workshop. The process of prepping it for critique sparked enough inspiration for me to expand it into a novel. My very first. I just finished chapter thirty and am at about 125k words. It's been fun. I have done amateur game design for computer role playing games and all of my projects were long term so it is familiar to sit down and work a few hours on a project every night. I will say that writing is much more rewarding and organic, without the limitations of software platforms and bugs standing in the way. Ideas go straight from the mind to the page like magic. I don't really have much of a point in posting this other than to talk about my book. So far my wife and a few friends are the only ones who hear about it and sometimes writing can become somewhat lonely. I've got momentum and at my current pace I'm hoping for a mid-January finish for my first draft.
