    Help!

part of my story takes place in the Heian period in Japan. (710-1192)

Maybe some of you know the large almost village like estates with multiple buildings all connected to eachother by wooden kind of veranda's with roofs over them, but open on the sides. They are surrounded by large garden's with ponds and streams with bridges etc.

I have found many pictures of them on the Internet, but what I'm looking for are the names of the parts. (preferably in English or else in Japanese) So like a map with how they call teh different parts, for I'm pretty sure it's not called a veranda, or corridor... ;)

I've looked everywhere to my knowledge, but I haven't been able to find it. Maybe I'm just searching in the wrong places or with the wrong search words, so could someone please help me?

why don't you try googling for japanese architecture sites and historical museum sites?... and ask a japanese architect and/or museum curator...
