Names for the classic high school mean girl?

Discussion in 'Character Development' started by GingerCoffee, Feb 11, 2015.

I just changed one of my character's names and I'm so pleased with the effect I figure it's time to rename another one. So far I've only had a placeholder, Emgee, which stands for mean girl.

Which names make you think of that snobby cheerleader in high school who is the head of a clique, beautiful and she knows it, and all the boys drool over her while the girls not in the clique can't see the attraction?

    Thanks in advance. :)

    Jennifer, Samantha, Ashley, Brielle

Those are the names of that type from high school that I remember

Isnt Jennifer the girl next door?

There's one name that HAS to be near the top of the list - Heather.

Nah, Heather is more of the misunderstood mean girl name, and she is not actually mean.

I vote more for names like Brittany; however, you really should not be too caught up in this kind of name association. Really, any name you dislike will do.

Brittany Nicole if she's a redhead
    Jennifer if she's a brunette
    Heather if she's a blond.

When I was in highschool all the girls from that side of Whickam Road (the money side) were gaga over the name Brittany Nicole for their soon-to-be daughters.

Funny, given that I went to school with Lisa and Patty, Stacey and Tina, and nine bajillion Michelle's. :)

Most Heathers I've known are quite nice/

Brittany, Alexis, Mandy, Roxanne, and of course Ginger.

Oh, and Katniss. I'm really starting to hate that name.

Khaleesi is becoming quite popular I wouldn't be surprised.

All the girls called Jennifer in my school were the geeky quiet types. The mean girls in my school were Harriet, Kylie, Sinead and a gaggle of Sarahs.

    Brittany (or Britney), Ashley, Heather

Count any times you've heard Brittany on this thread, and it's obvious which is the best answer

It's a know fact that Sarahs that were born in the 60s and 70s were really nice people, the kind of girl you brought home to mom. But by the time the 80s and 90s hit, the name was hijacked by mean bitch society.

While Brittany is at the top of the list, my protagonist's name is Brin, so I thought I'd avoid Brittany.

Heather is intriguing. Sounds like a beauty but maybe not so much conceited. I need conceited.

Go with Ashley, then. Also starts with an A.

Taylor, Morgan, Katie/Kate, Allie, were some I knew. But for some reason they, and other mean girls at my school were all the snobby sporty girl type that were into basketball.

What do people think of Jade? The story takes place in about 2115. I was thinking something future leaning. Though Ashley sounds good.

Well this is tough -- are you writing this in the present day? Because certainly there were Jennifers back in my day, but these days there are very few kids named Jennifer. I think Jenna has kind of replaced it.

I think of Emma a little bit in this sense, although I don't know why, since I do like the name.

I think Heathers actually has too close of a connotation with the movie Heathers, so I'd hesitate to use it.

2115? Go with Jade! China is on the rise, right? (obviously this isn't an Asian name, but Jade brings to mind China)

Jade doesn't sound pretentious enough, and... there's no nice way to say this... being named after a precious or semi-precious stone is kinda' trailer-parkie. It doesn't fit with the privilege needed to be groomed as a mean girl, because, yes, it starts at home.

Giada, Italian version of Jade. Sounds quite uppity to me.
