Its that time of year again! Anyone else participating Camp NaNoWriMo next month? What exciting project will you be working on? This year will be a new and different challenge for me. Almost one year ago exactly, I finished the first draft of my first ever proper manuscript. I let it sit in my draw for 6 months, as suggested by a lot of writers, then took it out again to begin editing ... for the last 6 months now I have been unable to edit/focus on it either due to work (I started a new job last November which took a while to get settled into and which is now currently going through massive changes so is a bit of struggle at the moment) or from writers block and a lack of motivation when I do have spare time. I realised I needed to look at my novel more closely and, after several weeks of hard thinking, I've decided that the current genre of the story might not be the best one for it. Therefore, this Camp, my goal to rework/rewrite my entire manuscript into its new genre. After making this decision, I already feel more motivated, more refreshed, less restrained, and more confident with this story. I am hoping that this change in genre will also help me reach my secondary goal of boosting my draft's current word count of 39,000 words to its more ideal word count (based on generally accepted manuscript word counts for genres etc.) of 60,000 words. I might be setting up my own cabin again but have not fully decided as of yet. If you would be interested in joining in with my cabin let me know and, if I do end set one up, I'll let you know and add you to it Good luck everyone!
If you make a cabin please do invite me(same username). I'm still trudging through my little trilogy of eldritch horrors for the most part. I'm planning to focus on the first installment this time. I want to finish it this year.
Of course I will, no problem I'm glad to hear you're still persisting with that project! I'll be rooting for you along with every one else
If you do set one up then I'd like to join in again please! Username is Tatsuya. I'm working on an outline for something new (and kind of silly) at the moment and having a blast doing so.
Sorry but what do you mean by cabin? An actual or an internet one, lol sorry for this question, also i am stoked for NaNoWriMo!
That's okay Camp Nanowrimo incorporates virtual/online cabins on it's website. Each cabin usually consists of around 11 participants and it's an environment where you can support or compete, if you are so inclined, with each other throughout the month
@Damien Loveshaft and @Vrisnem your invites have been sent @Mr Novelist you'll need to create and account and set up your project on the Camp Nanaimo website before I can add you to the cabin. Let me know when you've done this so I can add you
Hey, your account is showing up now but you need to create your project now on the site so I can send you a cabin invite
Hopefully, this goes better than my last few Nano attempts. Have a very different goal this time, in a different place this time around. Wouldn`t mind joining in on the cabin.
Camp Nano is almost upon us!! Only 4 hours until midnight here in the UK ... how long do you all have left to wait??
