Nay ho ma! I'm new here, and I just wanted to introduce myself... My penname is Chintastic - and from the "Chin" part, you can deduce (no pun intended) that I am Chinese-American. Also, being Chinese-American, the only phrase I actually know is "Nay ho ma." Anyhoo, in addtion to writing, I also paint, act, sing, and puppeteer... I go to Riverside Military Academy, so I go not get to write, act, sing, or puppeteer as much as I'l like... But I do enjoy writing, and I have been published (not in anything impressive.) I mainly write for fun and I am always looking for good old constructive critiscm for my pieces. I hope to get to know this forum much better and improve on my writing skills much better by doing so. Thanks for reading this thread! M goy nay! --Chintastic

Hello, Chintastic. Actually, when I first saw your name, I wondered if you were saying your face resembled Jay Leno's! I tried to translate "Nay ho ma" at babelfish, to no avail. May I ask what the translation is? Welcome to the Writing Forums. I believe all of us here write for fun as well, even those few who also write for publication, and fame and fortune. Writing, after all, entails a lot of effort, and who but the most masochistic would endure that if it weren't also fun? As for the truly self-hating, there are far easier ways to punish oneself for the unspeakable crime of existing. So I invite you to explore the far corners of the site. Read and voice opinions, take a writing challenge or two, play some word games, and get to know the odd denizens of this twilight world. I hope you feel we're as friendly after you begin seeing reviews! We all tend to speak our minds, and focus on how the writing might be improved rather than on gushing on the greatness of the piece. I say "might be improved", because reviewers, whether designated as such or not, are only people with opinions and writing styles all their own. That is one reason we usually encourage newcomers to get to know everyone before posting items for review. So get to know us through our writing and through our play, and we'll get to know you better as well. Above all, have fun!
To Cognito, "Nay ho ma" means "hello" or "good day" in Cantonese. You were probably thinking of "Nee how," which is Manderin. "M goy nay" means "thanks alot" in Cantonese - just for clarifacation.
Hello. Can't say I understand Cantonese but Mandarin is a different case! Either way, good to have you around.
