I keep getting spam in my email from Creative Writing Forums, some kind of notification thingy on each thread I've posted in. I'm really getting sick of it, but I have no idea how to get it to stop. Can a moderator turn this off or something?
Go to your profile and under "Your Account" go to "General Settings" There you can change what you receive emails for, so can turn off a lot of requests, ie, not receive emails for private messages etc. The one you want to look out for is Default Thread Subscription Mode - it's a drop down menu which subscribes you to a thread, which you then receive emails from everytime someone new posts etc, that'll clog your inbox pretty fast on a busy board!
Speaking of spam, I had to block some member who, while I was offline, spammed my wall with five VMs that were complete gibberish and were extremely long. Anyone else got that?
No...but I did just PM somebody about spamming on this forum. His/Her only post was a link to a random website. Ridiculous. Watch: Now, since I PMed that person, I'll probably be getting a bunch of spam, too.
Okay, I'll rephrase since I didn't read past the first line of incoherent rubbish: Some user who I'm convinced was probably some kind of bot or idiot, VM'd me five times with random crap that was really long and weird. Maybe that's a denial of service, but, you know, it was my wall thingy. It wasn't my inbox. So I don't think it counts since there's no limit to the amount of VMs you can have.
not emails... they're pms from new spamming 'members' to my onsite profile page... but the content is the same marketing merde that's been posted in threads lately and has been deleted after i report it...
