My first posting and a day where the "Answer" hit me like bolt of lightening

Discussion in 'New Member Introductions' started by DXVictor, Aug 14, 2012.

I need to be in the company of fellow aspiring writers. I need to share the full weight and power of what happened to me this morning. For better than 20 years I have struggled with the plot of a novel that I *must* write. Its cathartic and therapeutic. Its NECESSARY for my continued sanity.

The concept of this novel encapsulates my entire life but transforms it into an answer for "the agony and the ecstasy" that I have lived through. It makes right the great hurts that fate has dealt me. It gives me a chance to redefine my life experience in a way that makes more sense; has answers. I get to tell a story filled with great love and great pain. Where both life and death become intertwined so tightly that the reader can no longer tell which is which.

Each chapter is either a return the fiery depths of Hell on Earth (the A Shau Valley in Viet Nam in 1970) or to the very antithesis - a world where love conquers all, and the main characters share the greatness and the eternity of a true love story that everyone would wish they could experience.

While I tell this story I leave you the reader as confused as I possibly can. Is the main character delusionally insane or is this a horor story? Or is it science fiction? Or maybe just a novel about the hardship and heartbreak of war. Or maybe all of these. In the end we let God sort it out. Or is it God? Or are there beings so far advanced beyond us that they appear to be God? Perhaps just beings who have existed a million years longer than humans, and whose knowledge far exceeds our own to the extent that we are barely infants attempting to understand a complexity that exceeds of brain's ability. Is that God? Or God-like? The reader will have to sort that all out for themselves because I will raise far more question that I will provide answers for.

    Thanks everyone for listening.

Hi, I hope the struggles and stumbles of other people can help you overcome any you think you might be facing.

And no, ancient beings would not be God. God is defined as the primer mover, Who was not moved. An action that was not a reaction.

    Welcome to Writing Forums, DXVictor!

I hope you find what you're looking for here, whatever your interests in writing.

This forum aims to provide the best workshopping resources on the internet, and to that end we have a few rules which you should familiarise yourself with before you get stuck in. The main section of the site is the Writing Workshop, where members can post their writing in order to receive critique of their work.

However, before we allow members to post their work, they must have met some basic requirments. Firstly, you must have been a member for fourteen days, and have made twenty posts on the forum overall (please note, posts in Word Games do not count towards this). This is so that members, when they post their work, have familiarised themselves with the forums and contributed to them (as well as hopefully learned something for themselves). Secondly, members must provide two constructive reviews of other people's work for each piece of their own that they wish to post. This is because we believe that the focus of workshopping should be equally upon giving reviews as receiving them, as they allow a writer to practice and improve their editing skills, which they can then apply to their own writing.

Beyond the Writing Workshop, you will find that we have extensive forums for discussion of aspects of writing, as well as a community area for general discussion. We also run periodic short story and poetry contests, which are good for challenging yourself and expanding your skills.

If you have any questions or problems, then the moderators (myself, Cogito, Lemex and Dante Dases) should be your first port of call. Any technical problems with the site itself should be directed to Daniel, the site administrator and owner. I would recommend you have a look over the rules so that you know what to expect, and what is expected. But aside from that, I hope you enjoy your time here.
