Hello All New to the site. I am from New Mexico, and all my writing has consisted to writing in journals, to express my personal feeling and to let steam off sometimes. I have been doing that for many years. I have no degree to speak of. I do like writing and my brother came over the other week and read some of my journals, and told me. If I write all the time as a hobby why don't I actually try to write a book. Wasn't sure if he was joking or serious. Than I thought on it for sometime and decided he was right. So here I am. Peace Dale
Hello Dale, Welcome to the Writing Forums. The only degree required is a high degree of determination. Writing for others always involves a lot of revision to turn the initial rough draft into something clear and engaging. If you haven't explored the site yet, you should probably do so soon. Newcomers often gravitate to the Lounge, the Word Games, or the Writing Workshops, but there is much more to be discovered if you poke in the corners. Remember to check out our FAQ as well! As for the Writing Workshops, new joiners often wonder why we do things a bit differently on this site than on other writing sites. We emphasize reviewing as a critical writing skill. Training your eye by reviewing other people's work helps you improve your own writing even before you present it for others to see. Therefore, we ask members to review other people's writing before posting work of their own. The Writing Workshops on this site, therefore, are true workshops, not just bulletin boards for displaying your work. See this post, Why Write Reviews Before Posting My Work? for more information. Enjoy your stay here, and have fun!
Welcome Dale. I hope you stick around. Theres certainly plenty here for you read write review and then more. And basically my good friend Cogito hits the nail on the head....
Hi Dale, That's why I'm here. I have been writing since I was a kid, but only seriously for the last six months. There is a lot to learn, so I hope to see you around!
Welcome to the site, Dale, good to see you here As Cogito said, take time exploring the site and don't hesitate to ask for help from one of the moderators.
